Breckenridge vs Park city, Living and Skiing?

So Ive been offered a job at PCMR and Breckenridge, and ive never been to either; never been out west.

So how do they compare to each other? skiing and living?

Can't speak for park city, but the park at Breckinridge is unreal, the powder can get fucking insane, and the nightlife is pretty fun. Im underage so I couldn't tell you about the bars, but the people are for the most part laid back and chill

I think they have a similar night life, brecks night life might be a little bit younger. PC is closer to a city, only like 25 mins and breck is like 2hrs. Breck will have a better park and you'll be able to ski vail/keystone too which would be sick, but the best real skiing will be at vail. PC has some OKAY real skiing and surrounding mountains have decent skiing too. I think both would be really fun, obviously one has better park and one has betting skiing.

Wrong, PC has real good "real" skiing. And there is a lift that literally unloads on Main Street. And Main Street is sick. PC is pretty dope..

so everything in brecken you need a car for? thats what i like about PC everything is connected and walking distance (I wont have a car while im at either resort)

And from PC you can hop over to the big or little cottonwood canyons for some of the best pow skiing in the world...Better than summit county hands down

If you're not going to have a car then PC is the way to go seeing as the bus service there is legit and it's all free. You won't be disappointed either way, although my personal preference having experienced both would be PC. Park is not as good as Breck, but the mountain is way better. Breck feels like a giant hill, not a mountain (haters gonna hate). PC is also cool because even if you don't have a car you still have 2 other mountains you can ride if you so choose that are both 5 minutes away from PCMR.

Def P-city. I have friends who live at both. Brecks no slouch by any means but P-city is jus super cool. I personally don't like the actual resort but the canyons is right there, plus altas not that far a drive. Lotsa sick backcountry too.

Yeah that's all good if your goin to party. I don't see it but to each his own I guess. But if your talking about actually skiing...go to Utah.

flip a coin for sure your going to have fun at both places. I have lived/skied in both and Park City has my vote for sure.

It annoys me when people compare breck to PC. Of course PC isn't going to be better than breck but its still good. Flip a coin or something.

Keep hearin about how the nightlife "seems" better. If your underage, don't even comment on the nightlife ok? And to boot, eff the nightlife. I've been yo both places multiple times and for straight up cool locals and sick backcountry, P-city wins hands down. Breckinridge is all good and there's backcountry there too and plenty of it. Like I said before it's no slouch. IMO though I've had way better and more epic experiences in Utah.

It is important to add during spring break in breck expect 45-50 minute waits in lift-lines the most i've ever waited at Pc is like 20

Cant say much either about PCMR but Im from Breck and I love it so much up here. The park here is insane and out of everywhere else i've skied nothing compaires to it. The town is sick and there are alotta chill locals. Alot of people disagree about the pow we get in Summit but as someone said above we do get some good snow and as long as you know where to go there are some great stashes. Vail and Abay are relatively close and they are both great on pow days. I would trying out Breck. Just my opinion

park city for sure, i have been to both, and breck doesnt have as much as park city does to offer outside of the park. canyons has some awesome backcountry short hikes outside boundray wiith gates, deer valley holds powder for days after storms due to the groomer loving snobs, and park city has some good terrain with decent stashes around, just gotta know where to find the snow. Park is good at park city, and the canyons park is fun too

compared to the surrounding resorts (BCC, LCC) pc has like 2 lifts of OKAY skiing, nothing compared to bird/alta. I guess compared to break it does have alot of real good real skiing, cause breck is flat, but vail is decent. But, thats the same situation, have to drive to other good resorts.

Why not visit both and decide which you like more.

For those saying a car is essential in Breck, you're completely wrong. If you have a spot in town/walking distance to Main, you're good to go. I drive basically to two places, the movie theater in Dillon, and City Market (because I don't like carrying groceries, not because there isn't a grocery store close).

Also, the Summit Stage is 100% free and runs all over town and between a few resorts (Breck and Key, Breck and Copper, etc.) as well as into Frisco (Walmart) and Silverthorne/Dillon (Outlets, movies, Target). I have a jeep, and I'm glad I have the option to drive, but I know many people who rely exclusively on public transit and it's totally doable.

I'm not interested in the "versus" aspect of this thread because the reality is, especially seeing as how you've never been out west and are from the ec, either would be an absolute blast.

All this talk about "the locals are cooler at X" is a joke. In my experience, people living life on their terms are happy and gracious.

Breck legalized the green....and Breck and Keystone both have sick parks, either would be sick but I would go to Breck. i

I agree that either place will be epic if youve never skied out west. But in my experience alot of the locals at breck were way less likely to invite you out on a backcountry expedition and pretty much everyone I met out at P-city was more than happy to show off their fav spots and have the extra company. Now I've heard there's some total d-bag kids in the salt lake area that have their special "crew spots" and don't like outsiders but I never saw that. I do pray everytime out there though that some dumbass would be that stupid but I've never seen it. Now out at breck my cousin lives out there and her friends were ultra cool but there's been two times now that I've been out there with her on a bc adventure and had at least one tard in the group asking why they were allowing a non local to go hit their spots. Both times said persons weren't all that good anyway and warmed up to me once they saw me ski. (not that I'm super double rodeo guy either) but I think there's more of a "I'm cooler than you cause I live at a resort" mentality goin there. You see the same thing up at killington and mount snow too though. I get a kick out of those guys at Killy cause I used to live there. I'll show em some shit they've never hit before and all of a sudden they're like your best friend....haha

Biggest advantage of summit. Plus I would only ski Breck during the week on non peak days and go to key the rest of the time. Especially if you like rails

IIf you want a good night life go to breck and skiing wise you have 2 of the best parks breck and keystone right there, and jeff george who was the head builder at keystone just went to copper so you might have 3 within 20 miles.
