Breckenridge Ski Thefts

Hey All -

My buddy got his TST's jacked at the base of Peak 8 today while at lunch. While he was reporting the theft, another guy reported his S7's we're gone too. Security/police said there's been an oddly high amount of ski thefts this week, particularly of high-end skis. So clearly this peep/s knows something about skis and probs will try to flip them. Not sure what all can be done, reports have been filed with police, vengeance will be had.

Anyway:

1) watch your gear carefully at Breck (or anywhere), especially at the base areas where one can make a quick escape.

2) repeat: watch your shit carefully

3): If anyone in Summit, CO hears of any sketchy deals going down involving a "slightly used pair of 192 TST's" either mounted with the original Dukes or "only mounted once with Dukes" - mind sending me a message and I'll pass along to my buddy? Or if you hear anything about S7's too...

4) Pray for bad karma and a painfully broken femur for this jackass

good PSA. stuff like this sucks.

to everyone reading this and hoping their skis aren't next to get stolen, i highly recommend buying a cable lock. a small bike lock or handgun lock can cost under 10 bucks and is the best insurance policy you can get.

this should be obvious, but if your in breck dont put your stuff right by the gondola, its like a checkout window. i hope your buddy gets his skis back, thats super lame

funny story:

me and my friend went in for lunch and i finished early so i went back out to ride. i moved my friends skis from the rack where he put them to a different rack just for teh lolz. when he was done eating he went out to go grab his skis and i guess he went was full out pissed. our other friend spotted his skis on the other rack and everything was fine from there on.

he now always uses a ski lock.

haha lol ... I'm gonna do this to my dad next time he insists he rides with me on a powder day coz he thinks I'll show him the good spots

i dont know if they have them in breck but here in whistler we have those ski key ski racks...definitely easier and more secure than those cable locks

Most of the east coast resorts have a complimentary ski check with no tipping allowed. Not really sure why the resorts out west haven't adopted this yet. At the east coast resorts the only skis that get stolen are the dumbasses who won't wait in the four deep line for the ski check and don't own a lock. Mostly rentals and first timers who put too much faith in people.
