Hey guys. What plaxce would be the best place to move for a person out of college with a degree. I would want backcountry, a great park, and LONG seasons (whistler has long ones and has glacier riding). What are the pros and cons of each resort. I am from the east coast and want a big mountain experience and an amazing park. What do you think?

Business degree.........I've got years to go, but I just want to check out the resorts years before and make a smart decision. Many years to go...haha. Basically what's the best resort in North America.

Whistler... and when you're bored of that theres plenty of back-country near Whistler accessible by heli.

Whistler. Its park is ok... Blackcomb's good... and glacier camps are dope, but cost a fortune

co from what ive seen has one hell of an awesome scene..lots of cool as fuck workers around there. mammoth is huge! small town though. but the riding there is actually waaayyy sick, june mountain is only 20 mins away as well. for the time i spent in mammoth, i actually had a lot of fun working/skiing there. park city whack, dont go there if you expect "big mountain riding"...thats unless youre willing to drop dough on another pass to another resort in another canyon....the scene in slc is pretty sick though, since its a city, theres bound to always be something going on. ive never been to whistler/blackcomb myself but from what ive seen/heard, you cant really go wrong with the place.

Jea seems like Whistler is hella expensive though? I mean starting out would be hard......then I could get. Are there cheap ish condo's for sale around there? I wouldn't want to rent. And also, I'm from the US, so would I be able to work there?

i love whistler, it's just a shame they don't give a shit about the riders and only care about making money.

peak to peak gondola for example, WHOOP DE FUCKING DOO!

How hard is it to get a work visa or whatever? Also, are there cheapish condo's that are like 100-150k? Cuz out of college I won't have much money ahah. I wanna ski bum.

you could buy a shitty house in slc for that price. otherwise, nothing in any of those towns will be less than half a million. and utah has the shortest season by far.

true but if hes from the east coast, utahs season will still be plenty long enough for him.

plus hood and mammoth areent that far away if your summer jonesin'

Haha what I mean is.....I will have a good job.....due to a good degree....and it isn't like you pay 150k straight up.....it's over 15-30 years depending on the contract....

do you know what a mortgage is? and $100-150k for a condo is retardedly low... good luck though, buy sooner rather than later.

haha good somebody else knows what's up....and i was just throwing out a number....i'm sure it will be like 250 k or so.

It sucks for the locals that the Olympics are coming to Whistler. I'd be super pissed because of crowds and prices going higher than already.

agreed because then you can work in an office building monday-thursday and shred on weekends, unless you can find offices in whis or clean dishes

Yeah......it's just that whistler is 2 fucking hours from vancouver.....that's a long drive every day.....ya know???

i dunno how easy or hard it is to get a visa but, when u get a work visa it is only good for 2 years, and once u get one u can never get a new one or renew it. if u plan on living in whistler u are going to need to apply for citizenship or u will get deported after 2 years

move to denver, buy a cheap house, lots of jobs there and theres tons of every kind of skiing near denver.

hemlock is no reason to move to vancouver haha. hemlock is almost reason enough to stay away, that mountain is in terrible shape in just about all categories... management, chairs, grooming, park....

so, move to vancouver, but don't go to hemlock, trust me.

have you considered somewhere in tahoe? i was out there this past march and it looked rad as fuck...you still get some epic, epic skiing there, plus the summer scene there is off the hook i guess.

Whistler is the shit I went their for High north camp and it was the sickest shit ever, from what it looks like there is always stuff going on there so you wont get bored. I havent been there in the winter so i cant say how the park is but in the summer the canps are pretty dope. There is alot of big mountain skiing there too.

Its sucks that Im from cali and I havent been to mammoth but I hear its really legit and Ive seen pics and vids of their park and it looks sick.

Ive been to colorado and their are some really good parks but I havent really seen any big mountain skiing. Im sure the backcountry is sick but i dont really remeber it being notorious for backcountry skiing.

Ive been to park city too and its kinda the same as colorado except the snow is better.

I'm mostly hearing Whistler........and maybe Mammoth.

The downside for me of Whistler is:

A) Ptrices of housing.

and

B) Citizenship of Canada.

well next year I hope I can get out to Whistler during the season to check it out. I'm going for Camp of Champions so I'll get to the town, summer riding, and how huge the mountain is.

I've been skibummin in Summit County (Breck, Key, A-Basin, Copper) goin on ten years now. It's not bad here, long seasons, nice parks, decent backcountry, cheap passes, cheap places to live (if you know where to look) Mammoth is sweet when they get lots of snow and have long seasons not like this year. I've always wanted to check out Whistler but it's a pain in the ass with visas n' bullshit.

im in the exact same boat as this guy and i think im going with breckenridge.....i just graduated and I hear summit county is sick. Im also thinkin tahoe if i dont go with breck though. But I know you cant go wrong with colorado.
