Breakage of antiques

This happened a while ago, but i just remembered it so i'll share the story.

About five years ago my mom got a present from her grandmother. It was a vase that had been her great-great-great grandmothers, and was worth quite a sum of money - i believe around 800 dollars. Anyways, my mom got the gift and put it on display for all to see in our entryway. Well, my brother and i got the ingenious idea to use the front stairs as a sledding arena (as i believe many of you probably have at one point or another in your lives). Anyways, we started at the top of the stairs and sledded down. We ran into the wall coming down, veered off course from teh entryway door that was open so we could exit our house, and slammed into the table the 800 dollar vase was on. It fell, smashed to pieces and our mom was devastated when she found out. Anyone else out there destroyed a few antiques? (purposefully or not)

sledding down the stairs? sorry never done that - although i have skied and snowboarded down the stairs in my friends house in a drunken stupor.

and besides - what did that vase ever do for you?

'I should put my camera on a tripod - its easier to drink beer that way' - dirty steve

When I was Little I would take the couch cushions and sled down the stairs into the door, sum times even a matress a few times.........This is what my mother told me about antiques thought 'Lovely to look at lovely to hold, if it is broken consider it sold' But this doesnt apply to you so consider yourself approved.
