Brands that are smaller

We all know armada, atomic, salomon, and a few others but I want to hear a lot of brands that maybe are not heard of very often like joystick and moments

Well done, all three brands you just mentioned are pretty much the same company...

But as cool shit ive seen that I would like to try, Praxis (MVP and GPO), Prior overloads, and SPUrats.

sorry reallly dont know company trees im just saying they are the brands i see everywhere just looking for new brands or ones that are underrated i guess

Under rated is an often misused less common or less known would be better, quite often brands that people mistakenly class as under rated are in fact rated very highly by a smaller and loyal market segment.

Heres a few company tress to help you understand some of the bigger brands:

Salomon / Atomic = Amer Sports group - all of Armadas skis are manufactured buy Atomic in Austria.

K2 brand group: K2 , Marker-Volkl, Full Tilt, Line.

Look / Dynastar / Rossignol / Lange, are all part of the same group as well.

Technica group: Blizzard, Nordica, Technica.

Out of the majors there's a few more standalone brands like Fischer Sports and Scott Sports.

Theres plenty of highly rated small companies out there making some amazing stuff heres a few to check out: PMgear, on3p, Praxis, Prior, SPUrat, RMU, Moment, Black Crows etc etc

While these groups may share the same owner at the top end, there are very few other things they share.

Speaking in regards to Amer- the only thing Salomon, Atomic, and Armada have in common is a factory (Armada is a completely separate company, not part of Amer in any way shape or form). Each company has their own R&D, product management, marketing, and sales departments in their own home country. Each company has their own goals and objectives they themselves set and operate independently of the other. Ultimately, if you think the French and the Austrians collaborate well together, then you are very mistaken ;)

I never said they shared tech did I? Having worked in France and Austria I know this too.

You must admit theres some tech overlap here and there and out right sharing with the bindings. The step down / semi cap sidewall is pretty obvious across the whole range with Amer made skis. Next year I have heard theres going to be some boot crossover between Atomic and Solly with the custom fit crossing onto some Atomic models too. But yes given the different factories and teams you will never have a true brand overlap but I imagine certain economies of scale are applied across the group.

Well the bindings are a joint colaberation between salomon and atomic so of course you will see overlap but it's not like the days where you would see a rebranded sth as an ffg. For binding development sharing resources makes perfect sense as they require a lot of development.

As for boots there really is no sharing of tech. Atomic are bringing out a custom shell but it is very differnt to salomons. It features some very nice features which are not found on the salomons. Custom shell is somthing which is really takin off. When a brand does so well with a product like salomon did wit the Xpro the rest of the industry reacts. Atomic luckily anticipated and are ahead of the completion with a product which could well over take salomons.

You said in an earlier post that they were all "pretty much the same company", so to me that meant you thought so.

My post was in response to the ski primarily. And while we for sure work on material purchasing power of 2 brands (Armada is also not included in this) I mainly wanted to emphasize the separation of both brand's decision making processes and R&D collaboration. Lots of people think that Atomic's skis and Salomon's and Armada's are the same, when it's simply not true. The general concept of "Step Down Sidewall" is shared but realized in different ways. In World Cup, Salomon does use our ski and binding, but at the World Cup level pretty much every brand that has a sister company does that.

At the binding level, there is for sure a shared Development Center that produces both bindings. Here is also the misconception that Atomic simply rebrands a Salomon binding. Since Tracker/Guardian, there has been a 50/50 collaboration between the 2 brands when it comes to bindings. The bindings are just as much Atomic as they are Salomon.

On the boot side, no technology is shared whatsoever in the adult boots. In fact, the only thing that is shared is 1-buckle kid's boot (the other junior boots are unique to each brand). Base materials (PU, PE, etc) are purchased together but we have our own unique recipes, additives, and customizing agents.

That is a very misinformed statement. J skis is a completely different entity.

Also OP, bigger does not always = worse and smaller does not always = better, but some smaller brands include ramp, rmu, on3p, j skis, moment, surface, liberty, icelantic, etc.

Icelantic, Moment, FAS.C, Ehoto, jiberish (if you really think about it), Char poles, Epic planks, Whitedot,

Thank you all and I was looking for company's not every person would know about like SPUrat, Praxis, etc just things like that just trying to look at more brands and support some

There is no brand affiliation at all. Just like Atomic builds Armada. Scott develops and engineers all their own product. The factory that is owned by Fischer does the building, That is all.
