use metal coping and formica for the middle, MUCH cheaper. you can get formica from old countertops lying on the side of the road most of the time. if not from the side of the road, im sure the local recycling center could hook you up.

actually it wasnt a jip...$120 is not that bad for 4 sheets of plywood six 8 foot 2x4's an 8x4 sheet of lexan a box of deck nails, screws a new circular saw and a new drill bit set.

i just built a box the same size only a little taller. It cost me 35$ but i didnt put lexan on the top i used that counter top shit. Lexan is expansive but im sure it slids well.

that will get sooooo fucken boring, unless like itsbackfliptime said, u set up a 30 foot gap onto it, and that's about all u will be able to do, switch ups and shit are hard to do with only 8 feet to slide.

... don't break your lexan. TRUST ME, it's a very sad day when your $200 box breaks cuase the 'indestructable' lexan cracks and shatters.

My Advice: Put some sort of coping on the end because if the sides of the lexan sheet are exposed..they will start to fracture and evenutally crack as your skis bang them up. Good luck with that.

^ummm r u sure thats not fiberglass cuz lexan is 250x stronger than glass and fiberglass is only 20

i made a box w/ a lexan topsheet. It's 2x2x8. I only used one 2x8 piece of plywood and the lexan costed $38 for 2 sheets of 2x4. so i think it costed me like $60 in total. I just used lumber for supports, basically i just made a frame of a box
