I have one BRAND NEW iPod video (30 gig Black) that I will sell for $287. If you buy one from Apple it would end up to be like $318 or something with tax. so you are saving like $30. One downside is that my name is on the back, but its super small and if you are smart you'll get a case anyway and will never see it...let me know

there actually only 300 because shipping is free of thier site so u really need to lower ur price, especially since it has ur name in it

yeah I don't know what you're talking about with taxes. AND anyone that knows anything about Apple's website knows that you can use the educational discount and get one for $269 SHIPPED

actually only $299...then after you check out your cart it adds sales tax (i guess some states dont have it), which ends up being around $318

no it doesnt, the internet isnt taxed liek stores are. Also its on 269 with the education discount. so you realllllly need to go a lot lower.

no, its not.

They probably ship all internet orders out from california so if you live there they tax you. Theres a store 5 miles from me and they dont tax me if i buy apple stuff online.

go to an apple store and show them your student ID and drivers license, or on the website, there's a link in the store section for "education store"

i would rather buy it off apple so tht when it breaks like a typical ipod youll have it under warrenty

The tax that they charge is state sales tax. Each state has different legislation reguarding sales tax, percent, and where applicable. However, the state can only tax if the sales are within the state. In CT, since there is an apple store in Danbury, CT can charge sales tax on everything apple sells because technically, apple is selling things within the state. If it goes across state boundries, then no state tax is applicable.

ok I bought this online with the educational discount and some states i guess have sales tax so it ended up being $287. The iPod is still in plastic and the warrenty would still apply.

225 sounds about right honestly... if you can buy one NEW with YOUR name on it for 269+tax (what I did) then why would you pay the same for something that is "new" with someone elses name... not to mention as soon as you buy it it depreciates... just like a car, you drive it off the lot, its basically worth 5-10 grand less automatically

this is the dilema i'm facing with an ipod. i'm lookin at gettin a video and there's free engraving, so i wanna get something. i was gonna put my phone # on there in case i lose it and a good samaritan finds it. or else i'll just have it say "made in a sweat shop"

any other suggestions?
