BRAKE WIDTH

get the 115. 7mm is hardly anything, especially considering that's only 3.5mm on each side. They may be a bit tight (they will still function properly) but isn't a tight vag better than a loose vag?

130 mm brakes without a doubt.

I have some Bent Chetlers.

They are 123 underfoot.

130 mm brakes fit perfectly.

115 mm brakes would not fit.

115 mm brakes fit my skis that are 115 underfoot with hardly any room to spare.

Get 130 mm brakes.

End of story.

Now can everyone stop with this bend your brakes bullshit? If you can get the right size brakes or the wrong size brakes then just get the right size brakes. It's that damn simple. Unless you happen to be a couple of mm over the brake width bending is just dumb. There's no reason to bend brakes just because. 122 is definitely too big for 115 mm brakes. If you take them to a shop to get them mounted they would tell you that you need wider brakes. Brakes are designed to be slightly wider so than the ski so that the brake doesn't get caught on your edge and not go down when you eject. When you click in it pulls your brakes up and in so it's not like 130 mm brakes are going to be sticking way the hell out. In fact they will stick out the same amount as the bent 115 mm brakes.

Idk where you get your info dude, but you are so incredibly wrong. I am a ski tech and see this scenario constantly (and I work at slope style so a lot of out clientele is the NS type crowd) and unless it's so tight that the brake can't go around the ski then yeah go with the bigger size. But especially when it's only a 7mm difference I know for a fact that it will fit around and WITHOUT bending. Idk why the other guy said to bend them but that's not necessary.

The 130 will stick out, plain and simple. Sorry dude but you're just wrong

Even funnier that you say in your "rant" and how they are made to stick out a little further than the ski. That actually is completely true and even negates your whole argument due to the fact that a 115 brake actually sits at about 120mm when you measure the distance between brake arms.

Please don't post again, for the sake the of not confusing the poor dude.

You've got an awfully high horse. I'm a mechanical engineer. Would you like to argue tolerances? You sound like you don't have the slightest clue what clearance actually means. Just because you are a ski tech doesn't mean you always are right about skis.

Take a second to ask yourself it 120 equals 122 and I think you will find it doesn't. Why would you recommend brakes that are too narrow? That means you would have a brake that is too narrow... plain and simple. Why would you recommend brakes that are too narrow? 130 mm brakes happen to be actually 130 wide frequently (I measured my brakes and they are that wide plus or minus 0.05 mm). That leaves you a 4 mm gap on each side which is quite reasonable. Yeah they will stick out a little... but so will the 115 brakes after you make them fit around your ski. Lets say you bend them to 126 to give yourself 2 mm clearance on each side. That makes them stick out 2 mm less on each side than 130 mm brakes. I don't think 2 mm is worth the trouble of bending them which you would have to do a little because they are only 120 wide like you said. You admitted that brakes are made to stick out a little and 115 brakes just wouldn't on a 122 ski.

People like you who say get narrower brakes they'll fit are the truly misleading people.

Respectfully, what you have here is theory vs. practical experience. While you're talking about tolerances, have you noticed how most ski brakes fit together like sloppy spaghetti? The fit of all the parts together is incredibly loose, as a result you get quite a large range of what will actually fit. A movement of 1mm at the binding itself translates into a lot of movement at the end of the brake arm. I got some 115 brakes over a 132mm ski with the slightest tweak of the brake arms (basically I maxed out the "tolerances" of the assembly)

A narrower brake with a slight tweak will, 9 times out of 10, give a tidier, sleeker and more robust end result than a bigger brake that overhangs.
