Bragging you were in the dew tour

I just started working with some kid that must be young, i dont know much about him, yet he insists on bragging that he grew up with louie vito, danny davis, mark frank montoya.. and then to top it off he said he was in the dew tour year or two ago in breck and he lost to so and so , after he blew out his knee.. last night he told me he was a coach at windells and camp of champions in whistler.. i was like dood thats cool but windells isnt in canada its at hood... he doesnt even know! also that vito and danny came this year and picked him up at his work and told him "were going to keystone on opening day to rip, come with now"

I said WOW your soo cool.

I hate this I dont want to hear all this shit, I want to talk about our day of ripping or even a intelligent conversation.. anyway i tryed googling to get a list of competitors for the 09 tour however was little difficult.. I dont have his last name.. ill get it next time i work.. couple days.

anyway wanted to vent..

anyone else experience this.. im 29 and maybe i did a little of this when i first moved to the mtns but i realized quickly that i sounded like a tard.. this kid worked in a vail sports rental location for one year, last winter, before he moved out here from the east coast. so I cant imagine what kind of shit they had to put up with up there. now he transferred to us SNOWELL ski tuning..

im-kind-of-a-big-deal.jpg

I hate asshole's like that.. This one kid i know told me how he blew his knee before and then when i asked him to see his scars he covered his knee up all quick and was like"oh it aint nothin"

I'll go ahead and say that I agree that people who need to tell others how cool they think they are tend to be extremely annoying.

This would be really funny though if the guy was like an up-and-coming pro or something though.

Why? Its very probable that there are lots of people that grew up with all the big names, and many of them might be in the dew tour.

Some of the best are cocky dbags though. It happens when people are good. thos people are annoying even if they're awesome though.

The coolest people are the great skiers/riders that are humble and chill. People who aren't too cool to take laps with other people of lesser ability without being like "im sooo good" the whole time. Those people are the shit.

Totally agreed. I always feel like people who are extremely cocky are making up for insecurity.

I remember a very defining moment for me was the first time I met Tanner Hall. I was just some kid back then paying to go to High North. Tanner was behind me in the lunch line, and I had always thought due to his image that he was going to be cocky. However, at some point I sort of ended up face to face with him and he just said:

"Hey man, I'm Tanner. Nice to meet you."

I liked that he didn't assume I knew who he was. That is most definitely not the case, and also as you said its only the rad guys who would just introduce themselves like that.

I think its good karma to have a good attitude no matter what.

I totally agree. And honestly the people that have that sort of an attitude get a better rating in my book. I think most people hold them at a higher level than the overly cocky douche bags. It's almost ironic that the people who constantly brag about shit are not as well liked by a lot of people. It def makes sense though. People like other people who are down to earth and treat them decent.

At the same time its got to be hard though. When you suddenly blow up and gain a whole shit ton of popularity, it's pretty easy to let it go to your head at least for a lot of people.

TBH this is where I'm hoping this thread goes. Eventually when we have a name its like:

"Yeah so he keeps talking all this smack. Pro skier this pro skier that like WTF buddy you think you just hang out with these guys at the dew tour? Bullshit... I bet nobody even knows who the fuck Tom Wallisch is. Loser."

Would make my day.

Earlier this season met TJ Schiller in the lift line and skied with him for a bit, and he was really cool. Didn't assume I knew who he was, and didn't seem to care to tell me. It was cool skiing with him under this mutual agreement that he won't act like he's the shit if I don't act like he's the shit. He ended up giving me a few tips which were helpful, but he never acknowledged his own talent while doing so.

I thought that was really rad of him, but unfortunately, not everyone is like that.

first year in college, told a girl i was a pro snowblader and was in the xgames

I GOT SOOO MUCH PUSSY

/claim

jaimison irvine, watch that kid this year and into the future, i have had a couple chances to ski with him. we grew up on the same mountain and stuff, dont really know him at all, just knew he was going to make it someday. hes exactly like what your saying, really humble and stuff and helps out people with their tricks and doesnt think hes a big deal at all, sick guy.

funny the kid said he grew up with danny davis louie vito and mfm considering vito's from ohio...davis is from some where in the midwest and mfm is from denver...kid musta had vacation homes urrwhere

same with me and skateboarding. chris cole came to my local shop and he just gave me some pointers and wasnt cocky. he was pretty cool.
