hey everyody... just a reminder to BOYCOTT ALL RCR RAIL JAM EVENTS

show the cheap bastards at RCR that they have lost all respect from the freeskiing community

how awesome of a statement would it be if NOT A SINGLE PERSON showed up and entered in their "events"

add a message showing your support for the boycott

It would make a statement for sure. But i'm not sure if there would be 100% no turn out. RCR are pretty fucked for doing that. I guess it's all up to the ppl local to RCR resorts.

This is an excellent point. If you are conciously going to boycott then take the time to tell them why.

Boycotting a rail jam that you would have normally gone to? Send a letter/email to the event organizers copied to sponsors. Include name, address and phone # - don't be an anonymous hater.

If you are cancelling a trip, write to the hotel, the resort and other ammenities that are your mainstay while visiting.

Be proactive people, be truthful and matter of fact.

and actually had a reservation. Don't say you're canceling when really you were planning on going, but never made a reservation.

i disagree, letting them know you were going to make a trip out there but decided to take your trip some place else is just as good, let them know how many potential customers there losing.

This is what RCR has done, there is nothing that will change it. Just take it as what it is. Yea it sucks but crying about it will not get anyone any further.

yeah for sure, some kids will still go to the rail jams no matter wat but everyone else should tell em wats up.

They sent me some long ass bs email back after sending a long ass email to them.

Anywho, people will compete regardless, so it's probably in vain.

no one here is "just crying". This thread is talking about being proactive, which is the complete opposite of "just crying"

he's making a point... the guy had a "well i dont think it will work, so there is no point in trying" approach to this, and it has proven that things like that usually dont work. although it came off as harsh, and maybe as a mod that wasnt the best way to represent himself, i would hope that most people, if not everybody, on these message boards would realize what he was trying to do.

anyways- i think that this is a great idea (talking to the OP). make sure that if you boycott it, you send a letter telling why (and try to make it sound educated, not just saying "yo fuck your dumb resorts. you suck. pce." that wont work- its gotta actually mean something to them).

calling people dickheads is childish and doesnt get anythingn done.

i do hope no one shows up at their events skier or snowboarder

yeah of course, why try at anything, you'll never change anything anyway, not like you pay them or anything....

this may sound a bit "little rascal" ish, but why doesn't someone affected by the rcr thing, get people to e-mail in and tell rcr they cancelled their plans for a trip there. they dont even have to have been planning a trip to an rcr location. think of it as representing the people who are pissed but don't show rcr that they're pissed. fuck it, i'll send in an e-mail to rcr saying i was palnning a trip there but cancelled and i live in southern ontario, and had no intention of visiting anywhere asscociated with rcr lol.

blatant mistruths aren't the best approach, if instead you were honest and said that because of the new policies they will not be receiving any of your business in the future would have a similar effect.

sending copies of your boycott letter to rcr sponsors is really smart. if you pressure the sponsors enough, in turn the sponsors will pressure rcr. rcr cares way more about losing corporate sponsors they losing a few cheap freeskiers.

It's really not a 'Blatant' mistruth, they have no idea what you had planned. saying you cancelled your reservation when you didnt actually have a reservation would be a blatant mistruth and easy for them to figure out. but plans are a whole different thing. and your sugestion is virtually the same concept as my proposal. you inform them that you will not be visiting them (giving them business) because of the new policies. bottom line, and you've also said this, allert them of the loss of your business. MOST IMPORTANTLY, tell them that its because of their new policy changes, that you have decided not to give them your business.

yes then hopefully they will realize their mistakes and stop putting on rail jams too! another victory for skiing

?

If you want to get really radical about this. Picket the rail jam and harrass the scabs who cross the line.

I am ski streaking through the kimberley course doing backflips off of all the rail jumps with "RCR" and an arrow pointing to my asshole painted on my naked body. I might scream "INVERTS! OH NO! NOT INVERTS!" or something. maybe wear a jockstrap. I still have some planning to do, and I am aware that this will do next to nothing for my cause. Its just more being mischevious.

I think you should all enter, and then hurt your self as bad as you can. Just, you know, to show them that rails can be really dangerous as well. That'll show 'em.

yea, and have someone film it, maby wear some variety of banana hammock, thong type grament though. if you do film it, then put it on here, i just want to laugh at it, not see your 'cash and prizes' flopping around all over the place while you evade ski patroll.

RCR stands for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. They are a large corporation that owns many Ski Resorts in Canada, a few of them are Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberly Alpine Resort, Lakelouise, Nakiska, and a few resorts in Quebec. And previously they took all of there jumps out of their terrain parks, as part of a so called "Industry Leading Initiative".
