That was an interesting read but I don’t think most skiers are looking at fabric information, aside from waterproof and breathability ratings. Also, poor quality is just about everywhere in the outerwear realm. I’m pretty easy on my gear but still have had to make dozens of repairs over the years.

I’m just not quite sure I understand why everyone is so bent out of shape, though. since when did we start caring what kooks and gapers were wearing? When I first started skiing I wore a rain jacket and borrowed snow pants (with haters inside my boots!) because I didn’t know any better. Just because I now have a closet full of good quality gear doesn’t mean I should shit on people for buying budget options

really not sure why they need to have deep roots in skiing. they had an issue with their current market and decided to change it themselfs. seems pretty core to me

wasn’t a specific article tho, i looked up who founded the company and got a wikipedia page with their names on it and then searched them up individually. you can do the same if you wish

this is a good point, it's definitely lame and not worth hating on people who are new to skiing and not really with it, just for buying dope/montec. However, if you're on NS then you probably care about skiing to the extent that you really shouldn't support a company that is so clearly terrible (enough has been said in this thread about why dope snow is wack.) I would hope that some people who aren't in the know will read this thread, make up their own minds, and come to a more informed decision about which companies they want to give their money to.

Wouldn't you prefer to be giving your money to a company that deeply cares about skiing? Consider arsenic, vishnu, harlaut apparel, and other similar brands. All of the people who run those companies are people who actually give a shit about skiing, not to mention supporting skiers, and not just influencers and a small number of high level athletes. They're people you might actually run into when you're riding in the park or skiing street even. I think that resonates with a lot of people.

Doesn't literally every brand say that they see some issue in the current market and that they want to occupy some sort of niche that has previously been neglected? You could probably say the same about northrop grumman.

The reality is you can get way cheaper and better than dope snow BUT you’ve got to know what to look for and where. Most newbies need someone to guide them. Dope snow is cheaper and easy to access out the gate. That’s why so many go for it.

It’s just hard for new consumers to find that stuff. They don’t know 10k vs 20k, 2L vs 3L.

So in reality we have a duty to help out newbies. So heavy is the crown lol

The problem is their marketing team is insane, anyone looking for cheap ski jackets? Montec. They have huge skiers and of course steep steep.

I have seen gear trade ads that push buying second hand, but it’s nothing to what montec has out there. Also gear trade is very hard to find deals on.

Idk what the best course of action to compare it, unless some influencer does a turn around then I don’t see montec leaving, maybe like a website or somethin?
 
I saw locals sale is pushing Malou Peterson and others but they don’t have same pull as Jesper tbh

i really don’t care that much about how they support the community. they sponsor at least, my favorite skier rn in jesper and many more other sick skiers. it’s awsome what those brands you mentioned do as well but those brands really aren’t my style and many of them have quality issues for sure. the price and look of montech is very right for me so i got it. makes sense right?

definitely seeing a crazy amount of montec. seen 4 or 5 dope snow fits. very hard to see.

and ppl being like 'dope snow sponsors jesper so they're cool!' piss me off. in no way do i see it as a positive thing for dope snow, they're just like a big evil empire that turned one of the good guys bad.
 
Ok holy shit I know I started it but there are wayyyy too many dopesnow threads now. We do not need to clog everything up with a new dopesnow thread every 5 minutes. Just compress all that into this thread and this can be the sticky dopesnow hate thread so the feed stays clean. Calm down about it
