I'm boxing this kid Saturday and I need some tips, he's a good 3 inches taller than me but our reach is the same, any good tips for fighting a bigger guy?

I'll post the vid if I don't get my ass kicked.

dude just keep ure hands up and go fuckin ape shit on his ass beatt his shit up son also if you get a good shot at the stomach or the nose hes pretty much done

punch him in the face HARD.

no really i don't know much about boxing, but i'd love to try.

and now that you said it's going to be video taped, you have to post it whether your get your ass kicked or not. actually, especially if you get your ass kicked. haha just kidding.

Don't go crazy trying to punch, you'll run out of energy quick, try to keep your cool and look to counter his shots. Try to get some combos in when you can and above all keep your hands up

I don't know I think too many people on this site would enjoy me getting my ass kicked.

ok keep your hands up. dont go apeshit if its a legit boxing match cause youll run out of energy when punching him. get some hand wraps or youll really eff up your wrists. also when throwing a punch you need to punch through him.

for a KO punch Reach your right hand back and aim through your opponent. bring all of your weight and power through your right leg. Aim at his chin and punch through him. Use all of your body mass to throw a KO punch.

If this is just a street fight then a good KO punch right in the chin will knock them out cold. also keep your stomach tight and watch for kidney shots

oo almost forgot this huge tip. dont ever throw a punch so hard that you get off balance. if you do your totally fucked if the other guy has any idea how to fight.

Bob and weave man. If he throws a looping hook, dodge and come in with a short uppercut, and then go to work on his kidneys/stomach. Once you've worked on his body enough, he won't be taller than you anymore. Punish him if he lets his hands down. Keep your hands up at all times and just circle looking for an opening. Try not to make the first move, because if he's taller than you it'll be easier for him to counter. Keep your cool and be patient.

oh wow i almost forgot:

FLY LIKE A BUTTERFLY AND STING LIKE A BEE

keep moving around and don't go crazy. let him try some shots and do your best to block or dodge them. if he puts his guard down to go for a shot, try to take the opportunity to fuck him up wherever he left unguarded.

im guessing this is just a fight between you and a buddy...because if it wasnt you probably wouldnt be asking this question...but work your body shots and keep your movement...once you work in enough shots to the body then you will open up some bigger combos...

chances are he doesn't have any real experience and most people just try getting in there and swinging like crazy. Don't do that all that will do is waste energy..let him be dumb and just try to go crazy throw the fist's of fury, just keep your guard up and wait for him to come in close and choose your punches wisely let him do all the crazy the swinging, wait for the right moment and just land a few hard well placed punches. And remember body shots kill so don't forget to land a few to the stomach and the kidneys that hurts like a bitch and he will be scared to come back in on you. I don't have any real "experience" myself other then just back yard boxing like your doing, but i can box/fight/wrestle pretty well so hope some of this helped good luck!

haha ya im pretty sure he was super drunk though he had the co-ordination of a umm somthing with very little co-ordination

keep your hands up. dont throw wild punches to wear yourself out and open yourself up. wait til he misses a punch and has a shot left open, and then you clober him. try to get in an uppercut as early as possible

Theres a lot of good advice in this thread only thing I would add is maybe start with a left hook must people expect a punch from the right?? Maybe im wrong but thats all I got to add good luck and post the video either way.

I guess we're boxing with really light gloves (maybe 4oz gloves?) so it should get pretty brutal. How should I get prepared? I don't have a punching bag or anything.

psst..

I won the first round, we tied the second, he won the third by going crazy on me and pushing me into a bush (we fought outside). I hit him with tons of straight left jabs and mostly he threw haymakers (slightly connected, didnt hurt me AT ALL) and 1 decent gut shot. I chipped his teeth I hit him so many times in the face, but yet everyone said it was too close so they said to do a 4th round and I was ready to go (not phased at all, little tired) and he said no because he was too tired. I'll get the vids when somebody sends them to me.

i suggest going for a good nose shot early in the round. getting hit in the nose sucks, ur eyes get all watery which makes it hard to see...give urself a greatg advantage and hit him in the nose early before he even has a chance to do damage to u

wait for him to swing big first shot and step to the side to dodge and then just quick pop in the face and he'll be down if u swing through

Well if you are going to box like you say it is much different than a fight or brawl like alot of people on here are taking it. I box and its alot different than a fight. keep your hands gaurding your head until you strike. due to height difference i am guessing he has a longer reach which means your gonna have to be careful coming in on him and you gotta be damn quick. If you wanna end him make the first hit of the fight hard and on his nose. catch him good on the nose first thing and you've got it. no one can fight someone they cant see.

if you are the first to land a good, hard shot to the face, it will stun him and then you can go apeshit and drop him fairly quickly.

and dont forget about defense. keep your hands up!
