hey ns,

im building a box with a HDPE topsheet and steel pipes as coping.

its my first time actually putting coping on a box and im not too sure how much height the coping should be over the topsheet....

my buddies are telling me to make it level but i think it needs to be higher than the topsheet, i was thinkin somehwere around 1/16" (.0625, ~1.5mm) is good

heres a pict of the dimension thats in question....

what height have you guys used for your boxes? +karma for answers

i'll share my design (with tech drawings!) with you guys after im done building it... just the deck to slide on though, you guys can figure out how to frame and support it.

parker... you mean make em level with each other (same height, dimension=zero)?

yah i was thinkin some height difference would be ok since skis flex down in the middle.

Make them even. The skis aren't meant to slide on the coping. What coping is meant for is so that if your skis come up to the box at an angle (think of how one might jump on to a box/rail urban-style) that you don't chip and destroy the side of the box. That's all it's meant for.
Make them level. That's your answer.

i would make them slightly higher. that way it will protect and put less wear and tear on the top sheet of the box. everything ive ever built is always a little higher.

not more than 1/16th. You should be fine doing it flat, the coping is just there to protect the HDPE, as has been said before.
