Boulder opening date?

Well said PS. Factor in the most mid-Atlantic ski areas don't have the greatest management and that makes this area a tough place to do business.

how many days, or more like nights, does boulder crew need to make enough snow to be able to open some terrain? I dont see why they wouldnt open the 22nd, i mean weather looks real good and they can start blowing sunday night, all the way until end of next week (at night only obviously). temps in like mid 20s overnight......i mean i think if they really wanted, and weather forecast came out to be the way it says, they could easily open up some terrain....maybe not enough snow for kickers or anything, but surely enough for some jibs

i still have my hopes up to hit up BB on the 22!!! whos with me?

well no one said it needs to be great. i mean its only preseason. its still only november. we dont need mid season conditions on a opening day. lol im just craving to skii already

Im with you and Im sure the Boulder staff wants to open as soon as possible, but that forecast changes everyday, like the other guy said humidity is really important

yeahh i know, the humidity doesnt look good....its in the high 60's low 70's for next week. thats quite high. but WHat does it need to be?

Temps and humidity go hand an hand. the lower the temp the higher the humidity can be to make lots. but the higher the temp the lower the humidity. not sure about the exact numbers but 28+ temps need pretty low humidity to blow effectively. plus that is the low so how long it takes to get to the point menas a lot too. with 28 degrees there might only be a few hours of snowmaking and most resorts probably wouldn crank guns for that this early.

ahh the temps are alot about 3-5 degrees colder since yesterdays forecast....were lookin for some snow showers and couple nights of lows in high teens! day temps also dropped, even though they wouldnt be able to make snow during day, it wouldnt melt.

yes most resorts wouldnt crank guns for just few hours..but boulder always opens first...so maybe they would.

if this is correct, and forecast stays the same or gets better, they will be able to make good quality snow. IM STILL HOPING lol

its true, the temperature isnt everything. when i blow snow at my house with my gun, its reallly dependent upon a low humidity. but the problem is that if my gun is blowing snow, then so can boulders. and i was blowing snow a few nights ago.

ya but you have a small area to cover in which you're most likely using for a 1night sesh...boulder needs to make snow when weather permits but also in an effective matter so it will stay....it would be stupid for them to blow and then for it to all melt the next day or two

i wish all skiers were as smart as you haha..seriously though

it costs money for resorts to turn on their guns and if they dont find it productive enough for the resort it wont happen..

unless your trying to build PR

well the point is that the snow wouldnt melt because it will be in 30's during the day. as long as the humidity permits, i dont see why they wouldnt try to blow snow to open next saturday.

worst case it will open on thanksgiving weekend.

where does it say they started blowing snow? and thats sickk i told you guys

see ya all on the 22nd!

weather looks sick so keep fingers crossed

camelback is opening this weekend....says it on their site...so if boulder was not to open that would be SAD lol

WOOOHOOOO

Boulder trail and freedom trail

Someone is talking about as many as 6 trails, its needs to get colder though its possible based on the forecast.

ahh this is soo sweett

idc if its 2 trails with bunch of jibs. last year in preason i would just hike the lil park they had at the bottom. so it dont matter if its 6 or 2 trails as long as they are some nice features

It matter's very much if it's a little, or a lot of trails. The more trails, the more people spread out, the more people spread out, the more tickets boulder will be able to sell (some to non-park riders who want to cruise the mountain, instead of get run over trying to ski between rails) and the more tickets boulder sells, that means the more money they have to dump into a legit park in PA. I hope they have a lot of trails open. Last year's open day was manageable, but crowded. Also, it would be nice to actually make a few turns as opposed to just crowded rail lines.

dahh i'm sooo stoked...seshed a rail at my friends house in ne ohio yesterday..riding in a foot sooo epic

it probably depends on how many lifts they have along with how many trails. It definitly is still preseason though.

ahh im so stoked...ill prolly go up there saturday and sunday. its gonna be full day right? not only day....

check out the webcams on jfbb.com, they already have butt load of snow on freedom and boulder trails!!

damnnn im soo stokeddd! i cant wait for the weeekend! anyone have any good excuses to get out of work saturday besides boulder is open :)
