Bot Spam

I’m seeing a lot of bots bumping threads to post ads or creating new threads with somewhat garbled text. Is there anything that can be done about it? Maybe a captcha when creating an account?

I was gonna make a thread about this but I like seeing some of the older threads that get brought back. But it should definitely be fixed.

Bunping this thread as it’s more relevant now than it was when I posted it. I’m seeing several bot made and replied threads in NSG and gear talk that have been up for significantly more than a few days and haven’t been removed. Can the mods at least manually deal with the obvious ones?

Odds are we haven't seen them, if you message us links we can delete.

I guess bots also figured out admins don't enter the toxic wasteland known as NSG

A decently complex captcha might be helpful when creating accounts to prevent this, however I suspect some are just spammers with really bad english

Spam accounts signing up for NS are not bots, they are real people, so a captcha is out of the question.
