wachusett is a pain to get to from Boston, but pending when you leave/go it's not a fun trip through rush hour. Sunapee and Loon are within a few hours, Loon for park. Up the road from Loon is Cannon which has great terrain for all mountain and steeper stuff. haven't been but this shop seems pretty good,https://theskimonster.com/

Also there's a tiny hill kinda close called Blue Hills ski area.

Thanks for letting me know!

Blue Hills is solid if you have good access to it from whatever part of the city you end up living in. College pass should still be cheap. The drive north for day trips can get old if done solo so try and find peeps to ride with. Cannon/Waterville Valley/Gunstock have a good college pass for under 300 bucks.

good post, these would be the first few i mentioned

personally i'm not a big fan of wachusett, too crowded for what it is (small). i go to sunapee instead if i'm looking for a short trip from boston for a decent mountain (sunapee has a good park too). nashoba valley is an ant hill super close to boston, northwest, but they have a pretty good park and night skiing, blue hills is tiny but again, crazy close to boston (south of it!) and kind of a cool place worth visiting

loon is great (and good park) but crowded, waterville is small but fun (good park) and a bit shorter drive up 93, and cannon is super dope but a bit further up 93

if you're willing to drive, northern vermont of course has most of the best mountains

someone mentioned gunstock too, it's pretty sick from what i remember

the ski monster is a pretty sick shop relatively speaking. let me know if i can elaborate on anything! you're going to love boston dude

Other thing is the ikon/epic places an hour further each way are better. But 7 hrs in the car to daytrip gets old. But if you were considering one anways like maybe use it outside New England on break those are good mountains.

Just wanted to mention that I bought my skis and boots from ski monster this winter and it was phenomenal service. They are pretty chill and had a sick selection of skis and gear.

glad to know that they have good service! thank you

Idk how much money you have for passes but this is what I recommend for getting the most days in. For the weekends, get a pass somewhere up north like Loon. For weekday nights you have the choice between wachusett and nashoba and they are each $200 for college students. Nashoba has a better park than wachusett but is also a smaller hill. Wachusett's season is also longer than nashoba's. They open like 2 weeks earlier and close like 2 weeks later. If you want consistent access to a half way decent park, chose wachusett. If you want to gamble for a better park with a shorter season and one that is much more dependent on good weather, chose nashoba.

I don't go to a boston school but I'm always down to link up at wachusett if you end up chosing it.

I'll second Loon as well as Sunapee. May I also drop in Okemo. Not the closest but damn I love that mtn. It's about 2.5 hrs so not terrible for a weekend.

Loon is 2 hrs up 93.

Sunapee is about 1hr 15?

You’ve gotta just make the drive up 93. It’s really not to bad once you bet used to it. If you want park go to loon or Waterville, if you want terrain go to cannon, and if you want snow drive 4 good hours all the way to Jay or Smuggs. Honestly I’ve had plenty of fun just nightskiing at blue hills or crotched mountain (on weekends is open past midnight) .

I go to UMass Boston. Waterville has next to no lines on weekends. Skiing there nearly every weekend, I waited probably a grand total of 10 minutes in lift lines the whole season. If you're trying to get a lot of runs, it's a good spot, and they have a decent park. There's some really good tree skiing spots that don't really get skied out at all as well. I wouldn't post about the tree spots on the internet but I'd show anyone in person. Hit up the trail Oblivion for some sick side booters. Can easily gap 40-50 feet.

Loon is really good, but can be icy in the morning since it's north facing, and lines can get real bad. It is probably one of the best places to be in the spring midweek.

I usually make the drive for killi and sunday river early season since they're the first to open and I have an Ikon pass. Both spots are also really good in the spring, and sunday river has always had free day tickets closing day. Not sure if they're still doing that though.

Nashobas park is really fun and easily the best in MA imo. Probably a haul if you leave during rush hour though.
