All bmills and bwine skiers

sorta explanitory say whats on your mind and whats happening at the worlds smallest resorts haha

??? what are you looking for out of this? opening date....jibs expected? or our biased opinion on our home resort?

anything works i just want to see what the people who have skied here think of it. its a great place dont get me wrong but im just seeing if anybody has opinions or what not

(i dont work there so dont worry about liability)

ok i'll go. i've had a season pass there every year since 1987, and last year may have been the best. they had three boxes out their first day open. and then stayed open as late into march as i can remember. i think BW's park was really fun. jumps were pretty fun. sometomes i think that two bigger jump in the jumpline might be better than three smaller ones but i dont want to get too picky. im excited about this new "wallride" they got.

they do the best they can with what they got. they are also under outstanding management... i worked lifts there last year, and they really cared about the customer, and were always curious on what we thought could make the resort and park better. the rails and boxes are better than most midwest resorts, contending with places like KB, holiday valley, and pknpk

I have a feeling that this year either could be the best year, or the worst year.

it seems that bmbw is gearing to the weekend warriors/ people who ski a few times a year.

it seems to me that they are gonna be like the resort in out cold, and i don't want that to happen, cuz it'll take all the fun outta riding there.

heres what i have to say, ive been riding there since i started, like 14 years ago, and grew up through the days of kent graham. i remeber everyone used to beg like crazy for a better park, and they met everyone with the same complete lack of interest. however, i rode there last year for the first time since the new management took over, and WOW, the place is sick. i had a blast, its great to see that place finely being ran the way it should've been.

i was at an orientation, and all they were talking about was making bmbw a world class resort, and how they want all employees to be the same smiling brainwashed people. it seems like bmbw is going corporate, and aren't gonna value what the employees, and everyday riders care about.

Okay, first off...you talk about orientation and how they are trying to brainwash you. Well let me put it this way...its a job deal with it. I'm sorry that they have electric bills to pay and running the cats to build the elements in the park cost...you guessed it MONEY! Last year they stepped up big time and spent a lot of money on events, park feautres, and i think made the place way more fun to hang out at.

The more satisfied customers they get because they didn't get served a coke or loaded to a lift by some drugged up employee, the more money they will generate to spend on more jumps, rails, and events.

Just my thoughts...

couldnt be any farther from the truth, bmbw has to appeal to everyone to pay the bills but i can tell u personally that the resort actually listens to what the regular customers have to say. being on park crew i know that we try to find out what the riders like/dislike about the setups..

definately the best year for the park they have had last year and they are gonna hopefully get a stronger less drug oriented crew this year ( not to insult workers,/crew but i know of many times i had to fix stuff but you do what you can with what you have.) they hopefully will cater to the higher class and make the prog parker better so we can get the gapers and rentals away from cutting V gina jumps just my 2c

^ well during the week we always have someone at the top of the park to check passes, and if youre in ski club and dont have your balck diamond you cant go in the main park. That helps gaper traffic during the week at least

^good point as long as we can just keep it maintaind and the gapers out its all good for me tho its mostly the 12-15 y.o. who have their rentals or low end ass equiptment and they flat ground the table tops or they carve on the jump throwing in grooves and stuff but i understand their aitn much you can do there

i will be the first to say that it is irritating dealing with all the dumb gapers at bmbw. one thing you have to keep in mind though is that those people are the future customers of the resort and that they are paying customers as well.....all you can really do is just kinda laugh at them and do your own thing.....there will always be more gapers than core riders who know what to do.....maybe take a run down and try and be cool and talk to them about some park etiquette.....keep in mind we all used to be those gapers to......hope to see all you guys in the snow this year for another great year at BMBW

well, i think this year is going to be very interesting. i think from a park rider's point of view its going to be a pretty good year, but from an employee's point of view i think it could be pretty bad. behind the scenes it appears as if the new management has absurd expectations from its employees. they want employees to act like this is a year round career job when it is just a part time seasonal job where people go to hang out with friends while at work. its obvious they are trying to " brainwash" all the employees to conform to these high expectations because of all the turn over that has happened in management. but there is nothing that can be done about it so i guess the employees have to conform or buy a pass. this season is going to look great from the outside looking in and look like a catastrophe from the inside looking out, unless your in park crew then it will be good any way you look at it.

yeah it did. but i don't have 300 bucks to drop on a pass so whatever, i'll deal with it.

and shout out to steezy ohio.

isn't that how pretty much every job works? haha i used to work at this restaurant where from an outsiders point of view everyone was so nice and friendly but once i started working there i realised what assholed everyone was.....i mean its a job what do you expect

Shout outs to Akron people!

Really, BMBW is trying their best. Boston Mills really just started putting park stuff out. They don't have much but it works.

I have been skiing their since age 2 and it hasn't changed much except for the park.

I don't go to BW as often but I think I will be going their more this year.

Only problem is..(and most people will agree with me) the newschool skier vs. snowboarder at BMBW is like 1:9. Way more boarders then skiers.

Gaper level is very high too :|

Okay..unless you have missed the advertisements...Brandywine is where the parks are!!! Boston Mills park is just to keep the ski school kids satisfied, and introduce them to park skiing/ boarding. So don't expect much more over there!

And are we still playing this little game of skiers vs boarders....GROW UP! Boarders are kinda like girls...they really don't have coodies!

Gapers pay the bills, at least their not Texans.

i think the skier/snowboarder vibe is at BW is among the better of the ski areas i've been to. everyone rides together well and is equally stoked if some one throws down on a board or skis.

I don't have a problem. But it'd just be nice to see more newschoolers out there mang.

5/7 of my friends who do "winter sports" snowboard. The other two ski. I have nothing against boarders :P.

ok dont go rippin on boston mills.can you name any other reason why people go to brandywine. bm park are not really parks but you dont get snaked every run and u can hike up insted of taking the chair which takes 20 mins some times. people are lots more friendly it seems at bm. i like just spending time and working on tricks on their rails. and when im tired of the park take a run on somew steep hills that actually have moguls. and u can wait in like all day for 2 rruns in the park while i get20. i do love brandywines park and i do go there often. but it gets way to busy and you cant even function sometimes. they did some incredible things with there park and i love em but im saying bm is better without a doubt because i can park and ski and not sit around in line.

Well first and foremost i wasn't ripping on b mills...i grew up skiing there, skiied the bumps there, and was their the first day they put the rails out there years ago. So my love for b mills is way beyond what anyone should feel for a hill in ohio.

The question i was answering was, why doesn't the setup change much or have much focus in the minds of the gm. And my answer was because the main parks are at brandywine. So if you want bigger and better you need to go to brandywine...and then i commented on not hating on the boarders.

Ski where you want man, its all good!

i have in my last will and testament to sprinkle some of my ashes at Mills when i die. (i'm not kidding). i want some one to chuck a handful of me into the pond at the bottom of Croyle so i can be made into snow in the winter. (again, totally serious)

yeah. cept we need to have weekly gatherings at BM. but it can't be on a saturday or sunday, cuz those days get crowded as fuck. it should be on like monday or tuesday nights.

management has gotten really anal this year... yesterday my friend that works there and i went up to ride, and his manager wouldnt let him get a pass. hes a second year employee, and they are requiring him to work a minimum of 20 hours before he can ride. this rule didnt exist in previous years. now he probably wont be riding till mid january.

Ive skied there since i was 4 (currently 18) and right now im trying to get a job as a instructor but noone will get back with me. i really dont feel like doing lift ops and shoveling loads n all that crap... i would rather try to teach the younger crowd and try to get them involved with a lilttle of what we do instead of having to worry about gapers how cant figure out how to get on the lift or ride a tow rope

in the past, instuctor hiring was done in the fall. unless things have changed , you may have to wait till next year to teach.

this is what i dont understand.. a random person can go in there and say they are advanced or take a written test but how do they kno they if can perform.. teaching the mogul mites or w/e is usually mid january so that gives them a good 3 weeks to hire instructors based on what they can do on the hill..
