For my highschool senior project i made my own homebuilts. At the end of the year everyone has to present their project to a panel and to fellow students. A boston globe representative sat in on my presentation and one other students. here's the article

my skis were 182cm 115-82-115 fully symetrical with 15mm of camber and a 19m turning radius. core is 1" laminated poplar.

here are the skis right out of the press befor all of the excess materials were trimmed off
 
After all of the research was done it probably took about 2 months. It would have taken longer if i wasn't able to use a CNC router to profile the core.
And yes that is me in the picture, pretty embarrassing. They caught me mid sentence.
 
Very ambitious... Congrats on building your own skis. Are you gonna post any pics up of the finished product. I would love to see how they turned out.
