I am looking for a apt in boston area. Looking for a place around 20ish mins from Newbury street. I actually have no Idea about the Boston area and what is close to that street. I heard this is an expensive area but am looking for something on the cheaper side.

Got a job offer I would like to take but need to find a place to live first.

What area's should I be looking at?

I'm not too sure on pricing because I'm still in high school but try out areas around the north end, somerville, and what not. also you can take the train into boston as well. Just food for thought.

my aunt lives in a building about 10 min walking distance form newberry street. its right across the street from fenway park. its one were you rent for a year until you find a place to buy. ive stayed with her before and its really nice, and not that expensive because she isn't the richest person. if you want more info on the name and street pm me. i cant name it off the top of my head

I'm pretty sure I saw something on FB that basically said he did. You're a lucky dude OP

I've been in Boston for a bit over a year so I don't know it that well, but I've got a little bit of a clue.

First, if your into the college student scene, look into Allston (I spent my first year in Boston there), its got a rep as a dirty hipster college student nabe, but it's super fun and can be affordable esp. if you're open to roommates. If your into a little quieter scene look into Brookline, its just south of Allston and is still on the affordable side, but a bit more family friendly. Both of these neighborhoods are probably about a 30 min ride from Newbury St. on the green line.

Fenway is a bit closer, but a bit overpriced in my opinion. I've got as few friends who lived there and loved, but some find it to be a bit dead in the winter.

I'm in the South End, which is an easy walk up to Newbury and downtown, but a bit on the pricy side.

Definitely look into Cambridge / Sommerville. Both Porter and Davis Squares are super fun and have pretty easy red line access to the city. Places out there are typically a bit cheaper, but a lot are kinda crappy older houses.

Shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions or anything.

Best of luck!

pretty much everything this guy said. Allston is cheap and pretty close to newbury, (less than a 30 min T ride). north brookline is even closer. back bay is real close to newbury (newbury is technically in back bay) but it's pricier. cambridge and somerville are good options, lots of college and young people living there and it's got some good nightlife. PM me if you want some more info, lived in the boston area my whole life

Don't know if you found a place, I used to live in JP and I think we (my wife and I) paid 1400 or 1500 for a two bedroom place. THis did not include utilities. The place was pretty big two nice size rooms, pretty big kitchen, dinning room bathroom and a living room. You can find cheaper I would stay close to centre st or south st. There are some areas that are not the safest in JP. We were a ten min walk to the Orange Line, 3 mins to the Coop, 10 min drive to a stop and shop. JP be has a good night life, some great bars and places to eat. The vibe is a little more on the hippie side of things, the people around can be a mixture if thugs, Gay men and women, hippies, hipsters, and yuppies. Everyone gets a long real well.

If you need anymore help give me a shout.

i live in jp- great area, lots of apartments around, lots of bars and a good town but the best is the proximity to the city- its so easy to hop on the t and get into fenway or newbury street
