i believe that gay marriage offends people, simply because marriage is, in our society, a holy act. Since it is a holy act, than how can people create a holy act, when sodomy is the way to get there. Instead of the term marriage, shouldnt there be a compromise like the term 'union'? same benefits as marriage, but it doesnt totally offend fanatics.

another point to bring up is simply, why do you think that reason for homosexuality is either black or white? Many of you assumed that if its not a choice, its a gene. to present an analogy, i was raised catholic. my mom dragged me to church week upon week, until i simply refused to go. just because i was indoctrinated to believe in god doesn't mean i will go on and actually live the catholic life. now, i acknowledge that this is a somewhat weak analogy, but it can be seen that simply growing up in a certain environment doesn't correlate with following the norms of such an environment. there are too many outside factors and stimulus contributing to a person's tendencies.

just something else to think about..if there is a gay gene and we can blame gayness on genes calling it ok. Why is it that they don't say hate is gene related? Shouldn't it be ok to hate certain people or certain things? Are these gene related? People will term it what they want but really i would go with the fact that it is mainly hormone related as well as choice. i will not disagree with it being genetic. But hey, why can't everything else be blamed on gene's too?

And MikeE is right, what i tried to say in the beginning, however it not only occurs at conception, but perhaps a traumatic experience could create changes in hormones reaction to pheromones. So far that is the most scientific idea presented in this maze of opinions.

A homophobe is a greek term meaning fear of homosexuals. And i called you a hypocrite because you called people who defended the homosexual position homophobes(obviously you are by the responses you gave). Its not that difficult to figure out man, and if it is, maybe you shouldnt be contributing because that proves your incompetence.

Saying homosexuality is a choice clearly stereotypes gays. If its a choice, than it looks as if they dont give a damn about the feelings of christians, and other people offended by this practice. Plus isnt it a LOT harder to find another gay guy you are attracted to, than a woman(almost 10;1)

If you want to know how attraction works, its simple. Say a female with larger breasts, and good shape has more progesterone and estrogen, also meaning she is more fertile.(shape is directly proportional to fertility). through the armpits, she releases an amount of pheromones to attract males. The pheromones are directly related to the fertility, which is directly related to shape, which is directly related to hormones. The pheromones enter through the nose. A male has something similar going on, and when he sees the woman, his testosterone reacts with the pheromones and begins a feedback loop creating more testosterone, and more pheromones. The woman, with her estrogen reacting to the male hormones also generates a feedback loop creating more estrogen and progesterone, creating more pheromones. When we see some1 attractive on TV or in a picture, than because of a conditioned response begin to create more of these hormones, because our brains are tricked into thinking there is actually a member of the oppsite sex in front of us. With homosexuals, they are attracted to the male pheromones if they are male, and female pheromones if they are a woman. So there you have it, the simplest way. Well anyways this is what countless tests have established. With lesbians, they sometimes have massive amounts of testosterone, making them look like guys, whereas estrogen is a less physically empowering hormone, it still creates a feminate mentality.

Petek, I no nothing on the subject of horomones and such, but what goes on with bisexuals?

And personally I wonder, does it really matter if someone is homosexual because its choice, upbringing, a disease, they were just born that way or whatever the reason may be? Homosexuals are people too, and that is something we all need to accept. How come they cannot be married? The bible? What about the seperation of church and state? Why should the US Government be enforcing Christian morals?

My friend knew this one guy that was pretty religious in the christian fate and he said that he was attracted to men and not to women but he didnt do anything about his feeling and chooses to be single his whole life because of his religion.

 
Lead your life the way you want, I doubt any one on ns has had a personal sit down with the creator of our universe and discussed this and many other important issues. Personally I think something happens to you that causes this. I know only a few people that are gay(men and women) and they all had something go arye when they where young(the men I know all where tamatized by either their dad or a priest when young) (the women where raped or abused by dad or boys in the area and never received the proper help to over come it). Touchy subject, I guess when we die we'll see how it all turns out. Not much sense in arguing about it.
