All right, it's been proven that there are biological effects that cause someone to become homosexual. The research done tracked a large number of boys and recorded scientific findings on them as they grew up. It was noted that all the boys with mothers who had abnormally high estrogen levels turned out gay. So it appears being homosexual is biological...not so. Here's my thoughts: suppose a gay child doesn't want to be gay so he develops multiple personalities, ones were he isn't gay. Now because being homosexual is biological his alternate personalities should be gay, however their are two choices. 1. he can just pertend he's not gay 2. he really isn't gay. supposing the second is true, this would prove the mind has control over whether or not your gay. as for the percent of the time this would be true, quite often i believe becuase the mind has been proven to have a control over biological stuff by the use of placebos....yeah, just wanted to get that out

I don't know why anyone would just choose to live a life of persecution and people making fun of them..being gay has got to be a tough lifestyle

Oh yeah i forgot to add this, reason why people are still gay but don't want to be is that their mind may not have the capability to overcome their biological tendencies...that or they don't realize they have the choice (kind of give up)

I really don't think that there is anything wrong with being gay. All the gay people I know are mad chill and stuff and don't do stupid shit. They're funny as hell and really nice, unless they're making fun of homophobes.

yeah im sure there is some biological stuff involved but ive noticed people who decide there gay to kind of just change there origanal personality and start acting queer and talking with a lisp, so its probably a combo of the 2

Think about it...babies come from a man and a woman sticking matching genetalia together. This means that they are straight (i.e. not gay). If you have two straight parents, then being gay is not biological, it is a way of trying to get ass when you can't get chicks.

i think the mind has complete control over it in the beginning. If from the beginning, before you start to learn about all that stuff, if you know that you are supposed to like women, and not to like men, then you can probably avoid ever thinking about it.

Also, lets say you want to be straight, but you begin to worry about being gay. Who is to tell you that you are going to be gay no matter what you do? if you want to be straight, you probably wont end up being gay because of the bias your mind creates against the gay feelings.

ok any person no matter what they are, is the way they are because of past events in there lives. the everyday evants and activities a person does, shapes them into who they are today. its not a choice but, it is an option and a way out for some people. and it is an increasingly popular option with all the talk of how it is ok and it is completley normal. well the fact is, its not normal and its not right. people now are raising there kids to believe that it is ok to be gay, and thats its noraml so the kids immediatley think it is an option and the thot is always in the back of there head, that it is a way out.

 
Its biological, plain and simple. You cannot choose to be gay, just like you cant choose not to be gay. seriously, we're talking about neural connections in the brain. these neural pathways have been proven to be created at birth (all of them, not just sexual ones) and its impossible to change them. If you dont believe me and you are straight, go look at pictures of guys and try to get a boner. What you register as hot or sexy or whatever is decided at birth, not around puberty.

And its not a attention getting thing. How the hell can anyone say that? Especially considering all the shit just people on this site alone give gays. Its not a challange or a desperate act to get publicity, its how a person IS.

Kami i think brought this up on another gay topic thread a while back, but its an important side note: If anal sex is so nasty and disgusting, why is it that men seem to enjoy having anal sex with women so much?

this is why I like to talk in my cult, so people don't respond with stupid things like 'I hate fags' because they can't stand anyone different from them. Grow up a little... anyway, it is not really a choice. The only choice is whether the person acknowledges the fact that he or she is gay. In my diversity in teaching class we had two gay parents come on (not married to each other, but different men) and both of them were married to women for over 5 years. they tried to change who they were and it ruined their lives. they were gay, and those were the facts. rekker seems to know his stuff and he is right. I thought prejudice was something that was dying in this country, but obviously there are bunch of xenophobic kids who can't step outside their little white surburban 'perfect' family life for one second... kind of sad. ahh well, I guess that is why we are human, all with differing opinions
