Finally have time to finish this update so here goes..
Big news for the superpipe...we added 6 new lights at the top shinning down the middle to eliminate shadows and light up both walls. The grooming schedule will be everyday between 2-6pm. Keeping it closed untill 6pm will give it time to refreeze so it doesn't fall apart during the night session and will require little or no touch up in the morning. This is the best time so that everyone can ride a fresh pipe at Boreal day or night. We also added more hook ups for snowmaking fan guns so we can open it earlier in the season.
With the lower night park now below the superpipe it will be easier to lap both the Accelerator and 49er chairs during the day. You'd be amazed how many people think Accelerator is our only lift to the top. Day riders will now be able to lap back and forth between these two park chairs without having to walk or pole over from the bottom of Accelerator to 49er. The wallride, staircase double line and watertower are in this area. We will building a jump line down the main run that this year we left open for normal traffic. Any features that we lose with the changes to the night park will be made up for in the 49er area.
From the top of 49er there will be jib lines through the woods again that lead to the Dutchman Chair. The main run will be similar to last year but we'll trade out 1 or 2 jibs for 1 or 2 more jumps. I'd like to see it more balanced with 3 or 4 jumps and 5 or 6 jibs in that line. The Boardercross course is going to get more attention this year. Last year we just kinda followed the natural terrain and not much else. We know where we wasted some time with features over there that didn't work. Those features are gone and that time and snow is going into the course. We're even making a permanent start gate for it so you race race your friends. There will also be a few features that lead you back to the bottom of 49er. The whole idea is get the lines dialed so that you can lap between the Accelerator, 49er and Dutchman chairs and not waste any time without hitting full park runs.
To the opposite side of the mountain, the Cedar chair will be rollers, micro jumps and ride on jibs. Its a good out of the way place that isn't crowded to try to draw first times out of the main park runs. Also right out front of the lodge opposite of where the lower night park used to be we are bringing back the Kidz X features from a few years ago. They're still small features but they aren't ride on like the Cedar chair features.
overall our goal is still to produce atleast 100 features on the mountain like last year but with a years experience, many lessons learned and alot of the culture shock out of the way, we look to have better flow and balance between jibs/jumps on all the park lines.
I've added a survey form to our website so I can get better feedback from you guys/gals on how we're doing. Please use it. Please use it constructively.
