Boreal update : Happy holidays update

The lower Accelatron Jumpline opened yesterday. Riders really put on a show all day that was fun to watch while we finished pushing out the new upper park line. The upper line will open today as a smaller jump/jib line that feeds into the lower CORE park below the superpipe. Until we get more natural or get out the inversion and make new snow this will be our main park for the next couple weeks and the xmas holiday. We will continue to improve the drop in area for the lower jumpline but it will take several nights of snow farming before it gets built up more. We will also continue to add smaller features to the mini shred and south 40 lines for the holidays shredders on vacation and possibly start adding jibs to lost dutchman.

Hope everyone enjoys the new setup. And please remember that it is the holidays. That means the holiday crowd will be growing daliy. Please be respectful of everyone using the parks...everyone is here to have a good time. Not everyone coming up over the next two weeks is going to be the the most in with it park riders but that doesn't mean that they need to get vibed by the cool guys. At one time WE ALL weren't as cool as we think we are now..so please give the holiday shredders some space and let them have some fun too. Park staff will be out in force to help move the flow along...so please let us educate the the holiday crowd as best we can so everyone can just get their shred on!!!!

Happy Holidays..

ps-still just waiting on the zuagg snowcat to come out of the shop so we can turn full force on the superpipe. All the snow has been in place for over a week. We are putting the zuagg on a different cat thios yeear and unfortunetly the shop is a little backed up right now, we just new the cat fully tuned up and dailed in the run the zuagg.

We worked on the zuagg all day but hit a snag tonight. I hope we can get sorted in the morning and start cutting. Its been real frustrating to have had the snow and the walls stacked for over. two weeks but no working zuagg to get down to business. Ill need no less than 3 days once we start cutting assuming no problems with the machine.

how come boreal never grooms anything after it snows? ive ridden there for the past 10 years or so and its always been the same. all the other resorts seems to handle new snow fine. this is starting to get really annoying.

umm...it started snowing in the am. how do we groom the whole mtn when most of the snow falls an hour before we open? ..and then continues through out the day?

Don't be a dumbass- grooming happens at night, and the cats are getting off the mountain of the really big hills like heavenly at 6:30 or 7:00 to give ski patrol enough time to do their thing. If boreal is so much smaller, don't you think they'd be done grooming a little earlier, say 4:30 or 5:00 am? And what happens if the snow is still coming down hard? If you don't like powder, then take a day or two off from pretending to be Tom Wallisch on the hill, and tahe the time to brush up on your knowledge of dick- sucking. Harsh, I know, but if you're going to complain about fresh powder, you probably don't deserve it, anyways.

Jumps...I realize that much effort is being put into the pipe. That being said the jumps have been uh...below sub par. lips with kick to flat landings equal pain. Of the past 4 days after X mas I have been at Boreal they have been good once.

Another quick question Eric, are you going to be building any Large size jumps this season? Last year the big line never went up.

I know there's no winch, but can someone just use the bully to steepen the landings a wee-bit. They really hurt right now and make it hard to keep speed without being able to stomp in a steep landing???
Not trying to complain, but even a few hours pushing up the landing to make the jumps a little more step-overish with a bit steeper landings would make a world of difference.
THANKS!!!

Just like last year..the jumps wont get a make over until after the holiday crowd leaves.

The big jumps on 49ner...dont have an answer for that one. We have to see how the accel jump line plays out before those are even an option.

Pipe opens tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

i'm slightly confused. so you have to build jumps with mellow landings so the tourists and beginners don't hurt themselves?
correct?
if thats true, then because your making the jumps safe for the noob crowd you are in turn making them hazardous for the experienced crowd? With the way the jumps are built right now, they are super high impact on the body because the lips are poppy and the landings are flat. The angles do not match up, and that means pain, shin bang, and harsh landings regardless of where you land on the landing.
that seems like a very poor trade off. the kids who session the park day in and day out are the season pass holders, and the noobs buy day tickets.... In my opinion boreal is giving the people who ride there everyday the middle finger by building crappy and dangerous jumps.
someone from boreal please address my concerns.

i agree on the flat landings, but more so you need to tell your staff to chill out. The ticket checking is getting kinda redic and the fact that some bro named larry tried to pull my season pass for ducking under the fence behind the lift to go to the parking lot kinda got me heated. AND the fact that you guys wouldnt give me a ticket the one day i forgot my pass (which you guys had done for my friend the week before) cus the girl at the desk thought i was loaning it out to some one...the park is supper fun tho dont get me wrong ahah

So I can't really address the building of the jumps, that's Eric dept., but he had building for years and knows what he is doing.

But as for the ticket checking. Yes, the fence has never been there before, but I think we are allowed to change things up as we please. The fence has stopped many poachers this season and keeps non-skiers and sledders off the hill, much better than in the past. You have to realize Boreal is in a unique situation, being directly off the interstate. We deal with many more poachers, board/ski thefts and rouge sledders than other mountains and the fence helps to stop all of that. So, please just walk around to the entrance of the fence and make the ticket checkers life a little easier. Remember, they are only making minimum wage and are just doing their jobs.

Just a heads up....the jumpline is getting a rebuild starting tonight. With a little luck it will be complete for tomorrow otherwise it might two nights depending on how much other stuff the crew has to do tonight. So expect to see a difference starting tomorrow.

what up eric. I am just wondering when the Top two jumps would open?? becuase the bottom set is not quite bigt enough to film good tricks and seeing how i only have about two more weeks of filming left i was hoping that there would be some decent size jumps up before i have to turn in my vid.

Thanks.

Hey Noah, I know that you dont have a pass but, if you went to Northstar or Alpine they have some bigger jumps if your working on your superunknown. And if you talk to Jonahs there is a chance he could hook you up with a ticket to film if you put together a nice edit. You should PM him and try and figure something out.

i went to boreal today and it was pretty fun but i seriously dont get the thinking process going on with not building ANY DECENT SIZE JUMPS..???? there is about 6 jumps in a row that are MAYBE 17 feet at maximum. With this storm i was asuming there would be some serious rebuilding but i have yet to see any? Just about every other mountain is using the new snow to its full potential with thier park, I mean Nothstar has just about a 50 foot jump up and its money. I know Boreal has enough snow to biuld some real sick stuff... im just wondering why they arent?

Super stoked to hear about all the changes that are about to happen. Lets hope they actually follow through. the 65ft. on the outskirts of dutchman would be SO sick. I like the new rail line on the skiers left of dutchman as well. super fun gap to down rail. Pumped on the jumps also. Thanks for getting stuff together Eric and rest of park staff.

the 65 fter on duchman is already built. as to when its open you gotta give the park crew a break. they have been losing alot of workers and dont have much to help them. but i would like to see a lip on the last jump again..... or maybe another remodel soon??
