Boreal park

awesome the one year i buy a pass to boreal i fuck myself up and cant ski the majority of the season...fuck spleens

Lets get some boxes connected together for some fun, or maybe a nice flat down box so we can learn some new stuff!!! thats all us skiers need to try some crazy shit....

I hear ya, but dont expect much new in the way of boxes until these storms blow through.

two feet last night into today + 1 1/2 on Sunday + they're saying 3 plus ft on wednesday = not very good for setting more jibs. We are going to focus on building out our park runs..pushing out the snow, work on the upper jumpline, superpipe, forming break overs and filling gulleys/level the runs. Some new jibs will come out but I dont expect to get the whole inventory out until possibly next week end.

cant remember where i saw this but it seemed to work. any way you could give some sort of curve to the corrugated down tube? like start out flat and curve it down? just spitballin ideas here haha

its a sick idea. those black tubes are pretty flexible. we've been brain storming trying to figure out how to hold them in place with curves. I really want to set some up as c-tubes or a rainbows.

little ways into the pipe drill some holes and hammer some rebar poles in at opposing angles to take the stress, you got an anchor. might wanna shovel some snow into it for some weight too. that would be dope though, i'd be crazy stoked to see that. gonna be up there tomorrow, lookin forward to it

boreal has their superpipe? setup, i saw it today on my way home

if not superpipe, then the halfpipe that's usually right below the accelerator

They were working on it yesterday, but I don't think its even close to done yet. And yes, 18' walls = superpipe.

it will be 18 ft and yes by todays standards that is pretty normal. we will be getting a 22fter for several weeks in Jan/Feb for the US GRAND PRIX and the REV TOUR, unfortunately we dont get to keep it after those events are over but there will be some time its open to the public.

As of two days ago the pipe is fully stacked and ready to cut, just waiting for a break in the weather.

Just need a day or two of clear weather to finish it. Tomorrow there will be 3 cats working during the day on both the jumpline and lower night parks. SO MUCH SNOW to deal with to get them back online.

easy t-hoe. I don't want to find you with vamp'd out with dark eye liner and black hair. Stay positive and maybe take some drugs.

Hollywood and the night staff are putting the finishing touches on the new night park right now. Its set up unlike any park we have had before..very skate park'esk. Still room for some more features to be added the next few nights..like the tires and tubes.

Our attention now focuses solely on finishing the superpipe. The snow has been sitting there for over a week now and fully stacked and ready to cut 3 days ago. Tomorrow I start zaugging and teaching Jay how to do the intial cuts. Jay cut the pipe most of last spring and will be helping take over the burden of making sure the pipe is cut perfect daily and also so we can better take advantage of good weather and be able to offer a night pipe more offen this winter than in the past(sometimes that requires cutting up to 2 times a day)

I don't want to sound bitchy but..

The new jumps need some work. Actually, the landings of the jumps need the work. WAY too flat! Even if you land perfect tranny it feels like you cased them. It also makes carrying enough speed difficult.

Once the holiday crowd is gone then we'll steepen everything up to make all happy. Can't say much more but there is a reason they are like they are right now.

yeah the landers are a little flat, really gets the knees warmed up. I'm really curious to hear the reason. I mean I definitely know it's caused my a certain group of visitors who enjoy using the word "hella" excessively and they also seem to love landing in the flat area right after the lips and then cheering about it.

the 2 small jumps at the begining of the new park are so fun!!! chop down those knee busters and make a line of like 20 of those small ones...

while we are tossing out ideas... I'd like to see the 5 pack cut down to 3, just make them much longer

I'm tired of overshooting every other jump

Either way; everything is super fun right now.

longer jumps will be on 49ner as usual once we get more snow. the acceletron jumpline will stay around the size they are now with the exception of the last jump having a option of a large or medium side by side takeoffs.

i rode yesterday for the first time in a while n i was so stoked on everything. ur amazing eric! cant wait to hit up ur flawless stunt ditch!

the halfpipe was amazing yesterday eric!!props... but the jump landings on the other hand need to change.. if i was somone wanting to buy a day pass to go hit jumps i would hit up alpine in a second. the landings hurt bad and now i have a sore back. i second the 3 jump idea...

The landings are the way they are for a reason and that reason will go away when the holiday traffic goes away. It was pretty much a choice of long mellow landings or no jumps at all during this busy period of alot of non park specific traffic in the parks making poor descions. When the crowd is gone the landings will be steeper. You gotta realize we deal with a alot more of that "traffic" than anywhere else this time of year.

Finally got some time off these last few days and was stoked to see first thing this morning that Hollywood did a great job on tweaking the jumpline now that the crowds are gone. All of the jumps are a few feet taller and shorter as well but most importantly the landings are steeper and the knuckles much tighter. They are all very much true tables now except for #5 still is a step down and will stay that way.

Its warm and sunny today to get up here and shred!!!

..E-

yeah they were a lot better the last few days, thanks! still a little hard to get enough speed sometimes but they're much improved.

to help the idea of the curved corregated tube, make it a rainbow, tie a rope to either side and tie weights to each side of it, then bury the weights at either side of the rainbow, make sure you get a rope that fits in the corregation

-E- The park is looking great... those are by far the most fun jumps I've hit this season. I'm looking forward to seeing what's coming next.

Glad you like the changes we made to the jumpline, I'll make sure to pass the word to Hollywood as he did the rebuild and its his guys that groom them every night. Just pray for more snow or atleast cold temps for snowmaking. We so want to expand to 49ner/Dutchman and finish of the jumpline with the final jump. Dave and I will be firing up the guns above the pipe tonight. We really need that snow for the pipe rebuild(SnowBoard Grand Prix coming up and we have to take it up to 22ft) but I'm hoping we can steal some for the new first jump pretty soon. Once we get that in place then we can really start to tweak the line and get it totally dialed but I think most will agree that even though its not perfect yet that it is the best jumpline we;ve ever had here. Some people are asking for the jumps to be bigger but I really believe that a 6+ line of jumps all this size is going to help people progress through the roof plus be a heck of alot of fun at the same time. The Pro jumps will be on 49ner again if it ever snows and we have some small changes planned for them as well but nothing too drastic.

We tried to get one out earlier this week and unfortunately it got broke digging it out by the bottom of the superpipe where we had it stashed. We have two but only one will fit the slope of the lower night park and thats the one that broke. I hope to have time to get a welder up there tomorrow and get it fixed. It's not bad at all, just one weld broke at the kink but that makes it un-movable. Looks like the forecast is calling for nothing for about another 10 days so we will be looking to switch up as much as possible jib wise in the meantime so things don't get too boring. We still cant do much on 49ner(lack of snow) so we are going to hold off there for awhile but we will finish building out Dutchman as a very mellow/medium jib line with a few 20ft tables thrown in this week.

Zaugg is fixed...the pipe is cut and it will re-open 9am sharp 1/15.

In other pipe news the rebuild for the Snowboard Grand Prix will start on monday the 19th. The pipe will be closed unitl fri or sat. That will give us a few days for public to romp around in the 22ft pipe before the event as it gets closed for the event 27-31. It will open a few days to the public leading up the REV Tour event that following week. Unfortunately we dont get to keep the 22ft zaugg after that as its headed to Killingtron for the tour finals. So come out these next few days and get your pipe riding in before we get taken over by these two events!

.E- I know you have a lot on your hands with the grand prix and all but I have some suggestions for the park. I love the idea of the 'frankenbox' but I think it would be more fun if it was setup parallel to the run. Also the green lift tower is a little sketch, I think it would be better if it was setup so that you could also stall it. And that quarter pipe on the side of the second jump was SUPER fun, I hope to see that again. Besides that the pipe is perfect and the jumps are fun and progressive. I'm not trying to bitch about the park, just trying to give some input that would make an already great park better.

i agree with lickerkicker on the frakenstien box location. you cant hit it from the side in the location it is in now, and if you do hit it quarter pipe style there is no speed to get back to accelerater and u have to click out your bindings.(snowboarders) It would flow much better if it was set up so that you could hit the box on top fromthe front and be able to tranny into the wallridey part. Pipe is sick and so are the jumps excluding the first jump that has the wu tang lip. Overall park is fun though. It would be nice though to clump some features like boreal early season this year so you can hit 6 or 7 jibs in one run.......Jus a lil input

One more thing, sorry. I think boreal would really benefit from having a Hip. That's one thing I miss this season. I know there's probably not enough snow for it yet but I hope to see it this season. Ok I'm done.
