conditions will improve as really good snowmaking conditions are forecast for the weekend and early next week.

I'll put out something to get your jib on...but dont expect too much, otherwise you will be really dissappionted.

I really dont have many expectations because of the shit ass weather. I'll just be happy to get on the snow, even if its on a small patch of manmade.
 
why open then, set some stuff up for the core riders who will hike, why bring hundreds of people up there for a patch of snow and charge money for it.
 
I dont make those descions..I just try to make the best of what I'm told we have to do to be open by a certain date.

I DID warn everyone on this board not to expect much.

I've always kept newschoolers informed to whats going on WITHOUT the associated marketing hype or spin.

My crew is doing their best considering the conditions or lack there of. We could just pull the boxes and wait for more snow but that would piss people off as well. you can't always please everyone all of the time..especially right now with a lack of snow and everyone's pent up lack of shredding frustrations. We were trying to fill in the landings today but some kids would swear at us for being in the way or just run over our shovels and rakes...so we quit.

And just so you know Boreal never permits hiking. And with it so crowded hiking just adds to the problem. As to the ALpine pass situtation, that a marketing question..I dont have an answer for you. And just so you know..that lttile patch of snow that we have cost a small fortune to make in light of the dismal snowmaking temps we have been experiencing..close to 6 figures in electricity and diesel fuel. So yeah..everyone has to have a ticket.

not balming you at all eric just thought you might have a better idea of why boreal is opening than me, cuz the only reason i can think of is braging rights.
 
all those people who buy tickets, newbs especially.....also spend money on food and refreshments, which helps boreal set stuff up for "core" riders like yourself............

Keep in mind, "core" riders use the lifts so much throughout the year I guarantee they actually LOSE money on the season pass. Thank every single gaper and newb that comes to boreal for that brand new super pipe cutter, and that parking lot full of rails, because they paid for it, not you.
