Newschoolers Appreciation Day

A big thanks is in order to everyone who chats it up on Newschoolers. Leave it to screen names like EaStCoaSt11, Thatoneguyattyrol, Stinkypoodangle, and Forillasteeze to give other screen names like Mudflap and Slaughter good ideas for Boreal’s supersnow gym.

Friday, March 23 is Newschoolers Appreciation Day. If you’re a member of Newschoolers, RSVP by PMing slaughter by 11:59 pm Wednesday, March 21, and you’ll receive an emailed voucher that entitles you to a $10 lift ticket on March 23. Be sure to provide your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS, AND SCREEN NAME. Bring your printed-out voucher, along with ten bucks to the Boreal Special Ticket window on March 23 to redeem. Limit of one voucher per person. Valid for one full-day lift ticket for March 23 only.

that's so awesome. it's great that you guys actually interact with your customers.

way to go Boreal! It's to bad more resorts don't do stuff like this, esp when you think about how big NS is. It is great to see that a mountain cares enough about NS members to do something nice for them!

by the way, if you can head up to Boreal for this DO IT! check out the regional California Forum for a description of what boreal has in their park these days...can you say 60ft step up?

yeah the 60ft step up is super offcial and the 70ft sterpdown before is also legit

sounds awesome. people should definately get down there . i know i would if i didnt live in rainy manchester

If your coming up, stop by the rental shop and say whats up. Are you still trying to put together a jib sesh Slaughter?

I was just at Boreal for a week, staying with Hames and Ryan on park crew. Despite the 65 degree temps, the park was still in great shape and I had a reallllly really fun week. Go check out Boreal! The park is sick

shit, i was there a week too early...

the step-up look pretty sweet but it was closed. Otherwise there weren't really any jumps my size, the ones in the little park were tiny and had mexicans on the landings, and the other ones were too big for me. the step up looked like a lot of fun tho. that jump line was huge. but you's guyses have some nice rails

i saw those and i said to my buddy "look, dirt jumps, made with snow..." never got around to hitting them tho

wait..

couldnt you just totally bullshit that?

I could say my NS name is donkey_rapist and they will have no choice but to believe me.. haha

Your a dumb ass. Did you even read how to get the cheap ticket, or that it was yesterday?

Who was there yesterday? I went around 4:30-630 but everything was kinda chopped up and slow... I was looking for the BMX jumps but I couldn't find them... It seemed that the only 2 chairs open were Accelerator and Claimjumper. Did I miss something? Was there another lift open which lead to different parks? Or it there only that main park? It was still fun with what little time I was at boreal. I tried to stay later, but my friends were pretty tired.

I was there 10:30 to 1, its perfect at that time or earlier. After 4pm it becomes night skiing and only to lifts run, however this does access the entire lighted area of the mountain. The bmx jumps, rail aley, the big jump line, and the snow features on duchman are in the other day parks. I'll post some pics of them I took a few days ago.

This is just a taste of what boreal is like.

Lower Night park, two 35' jumps and a 35' channel gap, with boxes on the sides. jib area to the left.

Bottom of night park, there are actually 2 more boxes below these.

Then to the right of that is Raill alley, here is a bad view from the top.

Sample of the many rails on rail alley, plus another stair set.

Then more to the right(towards 49'er chair) in the trees is the bmx style jumps.

bmxjumpsjh0.jpg

Then on the runs on 49er chair you have the big jump line. 50' step down, 72' step down and a 60' step up.

The big one.

To the far right of 49er you have some snow features such as this.

And this, plus some other crazy ones.

There are several other things I did not take pics of. Including the beginner park, which has 4 jumps, and about 8 rails and boxes. Come ride this shit while we still have snow. And mad props to the Boreal Park crew.

Shooot... No wonder why I didn't see so much. I was there too late. I was probably there at the worst part of the day too, where it was too warm so everything was melted and the runs were choppy. Weak... I'll have to find another day to make it up there hopefully. =(

I wasnt even really paying attention...

I was actually having fun today at Sugarbowl because it was like a 30$ ticket... which is sweet.

BTW.. since when did Sugarbowl get such a nice park? Seriously it's the same layout at last season, but they have made the hits so much nicer... at least in my opinion.
