I agree that most people on this site are going to be on the skiing side of this discussion, but I'm curious to see everyone's opinion on this subject. I don't see a huge difference between the 2. Everyone that I ride with is a snowboarder. A few of them were skiiers who decided to switch and a few of them just started out boarding, but regardless of whether you slide down the hill on 1 stick or 2 it's still all about the same thing....just getting out in the snow and having a good time with your friends. I've tried snowboarding a few times and I honestly enjoy skiing more, granted I'm much better at skiing, but it's just more of a natural feeling for me. The only problem I have applies to both skiers and boarders, and that's their attitudes. I don't if you ski or board, if you're an asshole, then I'm going to be an asshole to you. If everyone would learn to respect each other, we wouldn't have any problems at all.

i respect the 2 sports, i ride with snowboarders and isn't a problem, the sport come with our preferences not friends preferences and it's fun to see somethings different of skis.don't know why skiers hate snowboarders its another style another vibe and it's cool to see

im sorry, but the only true respectable snow sport would be snowblading.

as far as boarders go, they're cool by my book. i do both myself, but spend most of my time freeskiing. i'm the only one in my group that skis but i have the respect of all my fellow homies. it's what i've been doin since the age of 3. anyway, can't we all just get along ;)

p.s. snowblading sucks

Boarding looks cooler to kind of people that dont know dick about winter sports. A lot of people I talk to aren't aware that skis are capable of doing tricks. I get the 'isn't it hard with all that stuff? poles?'. Yeah it is kinda like having sex with two condoms instead of one, once you break through then it's all good.

I AM A SKIER therefore i like skiing better

skiin is better than snowboarding because boarding is way too played out, EVERYBODYS DOIN IT, when u rip at skiin in the park ppl dont see that as much and u are more original than everybody else

sometimes when i watch afterbang or lame, i have a strange desire to snowboard. i dont know why, i can help it. the next day i will borrow my bros board, shred a few runs, hit a few jibs and then run back to my two skis. why? because on my skis i can go so much faster and it feels way more natural, and its way more fun... the end

i approve of snowboarders. they know what style is. most of the time they save big spins for big jumps, unlike skiers who huck 1080s over 20 foot tables.

I choose skiing. But we still have some catching up 2 do on some stuff. Another couple years ,and we'll both be pretty even. -

I dissagree with that, and if there are things we need to catch up on, i think there are that many things and more that skiiers do better. Plus I see our sport prgressing a lot faster than snowboarding. Like 2 years ago yea, we were getting rocked on rails, but there are soo many people now that kill it on rails that rival or surpass snowboarding.

Not wearing poles is alot like getting a blowjob from a guy...It feels good until you look down and realize you're gay. - skimack

-If people don't want 'Posers' in their sport they should quit skiing and take up knitting. I highly doubt that anyone 'Poses' as a knitter. -Jibtech

it just pisses me off to see people who know nothing of either sport automatically assume snowboarding is the way to go.

dont ever call it boarding. please!

sometimes when im running water to wash dishes or something, i think about how lucky i am to have such simple access to running water and how some people will never know such a simple pleasure.

then i let it run for awhile, just because i can.

dude snow bording is just as cool a sport in my book im plannen on doin a little of both but im still all about the skiing as far as im concerned snowbording is just as sick of a sport it is even better (as in more developed in a freeride way) than skiing is but i think the biggest difference is style like honnestly snowborders can pull of way steezier shit when there not goin as big but when the go big there all over the place and the style in bording is way less individual i mean like it may be i just havent seen as many snowboarding vidios but there style all looks the same to me

I think its more progressive to have a variety of styles, not just one or two types of riding style that everyone else tries to copy. That defeats the entire purpose of having style. Sadly, a lot of skiers go for the Guerilla style, when they should focus their energy on something of their own.

I think skiing and boarding can take different things from each other, its not a war at all. I still think that boarding has te edge over skiing when it comes to style, mainly because it has been the central dogma of snoboarding for a long time. On the other hand, skiers have just begun to realize that tricks that are just as technical as snowboarding's can be done with style too, so there has been less time to emphasize it in our sport.

Like, knees heavily bent, upper body low and hunched over the toes, with arms in front or near the boot toes, slightly bent. You've never seen anyone try to force that style while riding?
