BOOTS

Ok it's time to shop for new boots and i need opinions please. I have major problems with boots cuz for one i have flat feet, and for two I bust my big toes up a lot. (I know the solution to that could be to wear a bigger boot). But my big toenails are falling out right now. Anyways, time to buy new boots, any suggestions? what is a comfy boot that still skis pretty good? How are the 1080's and the rossi softs?

k dude i have flat feet and my 2 big toe nails were falling off to k 1 get big boots caus the reason your toe nails are falling off is because your other ones were probably to small so get big ones and your toe nails will just fall of

yeah get 1080s

Go to a good bootfitter in your area. That's the best thing you can do. Picking a boot that other people recommend doesn't work because everybody's feet are different.

what the shit, I just had a whole dope review set written up on everything out there and my screen randomly refreshed and the whoel thing went away,... Im so lazy, I dont wanna type shit out again

fuck it

heres a start list, but always get bootfitted, it just works better.

Salomon:

1080, Pro Model

-stiffest freeride specific boots Ive tried

-good all around boots

-Pro model boots (i haven't tried) but seem to be not worth it at all, same specs as the 1080 but the dif is only a race fit, whatever they want that to mean to you. If you go to a good shop they can custom fit the right boot perfectly for you anyways and even go to custom insoles if your feet are Really fucked up, OR if you have lots of money and wanna pamper yourself you can get the custom insoles.

Rossi:

soft

-so soft(flex) and comfy

-buckles seem to make for a nice fit

-if you want cushy, good choice, if you want really responsive, bad

Lange:

fr 80 (i think), concept, jib 80

-slim/medium fits

-fr 80 is a classic type of boot made for a lighter person or for a medium weight looking for an easy flex.

-jib 80 is a lot like the rossi soft

-dont know much about concept, never tried it

Line:

Transfer

-not made anymore but you can find them around

-basically a Raichle flexon

-top part of the boot entirely detached from the bottom except for the pivot points at the side

-almost a free flexing boot (its even softer than the rossi soft) ie good cushy boot, bad responsive boot (unless you put its walk ski thing onto ski which is retardedly rock hard)

Dalbello

???

-new boot coming soon

-a lot like the raichle flexon or Line Transfer

-top part of the boot entirely detached from the bottom except for the pivot points at the side

-flex is determined by the tongue you put in; soft, stiff, etc

Any other brands I dont really know, but I wound't wanna ride pipe in a technica or atomic boot... unless they got something i dont know about

^Quite possibly one of the worst pieces of gear advice given on newschoolers.com. And there's been a lot of bad gear advice floating around here.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

its not advice, just stats.

and I've tried all those boots except the pro model, concept, and jib 80.

How is the 'advice' bad?? If you have another opinion Im just curious to hear, cause I work at a shop and differences in opinions are always welcome to hear.

I find solomon boots really uncomfortable

the problem with flat feet and the toes can be solved by going to a place like surefoot where they will take the shell of the boot you have and replace everything else. or you could just get whatever you want done

Try on the nordica beasts. I have been skiing them ever since I tried them on and I LOVE EM. THey are super comfy for me, and have served me well.

I would never buy a boot without replaceable toes and heals. I went through 2 sets of toe and heal pieces on my last langes and that is why they lasted me 3 years. Salomon, etc, I would never buy them. I also have the Lange CRL FR 80s and they are nice for the price. Nice flex, even on freezing days. By nice flex I mean they are not too soft and not too hard. The second buckle really keeps your foot in place. A good boot fitter can pretty much make a boot comfy on any person, not always. Langes are for narrow feet, but my dad with wide feet got the boot fitter to adjust the boot to fit him.

A few soft moans

You can go on the bottom bunk and finish it yourself

I would just like to repeat, 1080 boots do not rock, only because they do not have replacable heal and toe. Unless you like putting on those little boot shoes every time you want to hike or walk around.

go try them on you idiot...dont get 1080s because people say they a good because i thought id like them..then i tried them on and they sucked...they have such a big toebox you toes will constantly smash into the front...get a custom footbed..they are wqell worht the money and youre feet with slip and smash into your boots...definately try technica-they are a tighter fitting boot so your foot wont slip...but you need to try them on and make sure your toes dont hit the front when you kick the ground or anything...boots are the most important piece of equipment in skiing..do not wing it or else you will be very unhappy

if you like girl boots, hard as bread go for it on 1080 or softs. if you're a real skier and go sometimes out of the pipe, go for something else
