Just gettin onto skiing, and trying to save some cash. Went to a boot fitter and found that the spk's feel the best for me... Ended up finding the exact pair used online. Am I able to remold the liner or better off going new. I'll be saving like $250!
 
If the bootfitter is good and giving you alot of help go with him. Most likely he will also give you free work on the boot which if problems occur later will save you in the long run.
 
If it is a moldable liner, it will, over time ,change shape to fit your foot. I would imagine that a boot like the SPK would have a moldable liner but i could be wrong.
 
so you went to a bootfitter, used his/her time and expertise, then went and bought boots online. that sucks for the shop and for the bootfitter. I hope they charged you a fitting fee. Support your shop and bootfitter and buy the boots from them.
 
I went to a retail shop went in and asked for my size... The only thing the guy did was bring out the boot. Worst service than footlocker! He never even came back by to see how they fit or anything.
 
If this is the "fitting" you have had, it is more than likely the wrong fit. If a boot feels comfortable brand new in 2 weeks theyre going to be sloppy and awful. Go to a respectable ski shop and have somebody who knows that theyre doing when it comes to ski boots sort you out. Its also quite likely that the spk will be laterally too bog as they make properly wide boots. Sorry you had such a shit service at this shop i reccomend never going there again to get boots and almost anything else for that matter if thats how they treat their customers.

When you do get fitted properly do the decent thing and buy it from the guy who just spent the time sorting out the entire comfort of your feet when skiing. If you think/know you can get the boot cheaper online tell them and see what they can do on price and service to make it worth your while. Dont ask dont get, but be polite about it.

Forget those boots, buy the most expensive full tilts you can, you will be good to go.

But really, I would suggest going with the new ones unless price is a big issue
 
Regarding old boots, the liners will have started to pack out. Generally you get around 150 days from a liner. So if the previous user has used them for say 2 seasons, the liners may be pretty much done. You could get a new liner but the cheapest you will find will be about $250. A new SPK is only $400 in a shop. So really no its never worth buying second hand boots. The exception may be race boots where you would nearly always swap the liner out anyway, but in that case you would usually just buy the shells anyway.
 
Went ahead and bought the SPK Pro's 2012 used for only 1/2 a season for $115! Look almost new... So I figure I cant really lose out for that good of a deal.
 
Next time i'm getting new boots, i think i wanna be blindfolded whilst trying em on. I don't want to be affected with brand/looks, cause boots are definitely the most important thing you wear out on the hill.

Get what fits your foot the most. Go with new pairs, unless theyre used extremely little ( 3 times or less, pref)

 
last year i stuck myself with a pair of sollie ghosts, absolutely worst fucking boots ever. my feet hurt every day all day. definitely be sure you dont cut corners on boots, you could cut corners anywhere else and still be fine, not boots though.

JKS, I'm sure that boot fit you great, you obviously took the go to a boot fitter advice from every other boot thread on NS ever to heart, well done.
