Boots?

Hello,

I'm new on here and I'm thinking about getting some new boots and wanted to get some advice or recomendations to try.

I would say I'm an advanced rider, carrying a few extra pounds at the moment 105kg. I am looking for something better suited to offpiest than park as I tend to spend more time offpiest, also my foot is quite wide.

I live in the UK and have looked at the Saloman Quest but feel a little reluctant as have read a few bad things about it.

Any help about what to have a look at will be much appriciated. I will be getting fitted by a boot fitter just after some ideas.

Many thanks

Jon

Every person's foot is different. Therefore, a boot that would work for me wouldn't necessarily fit your foot type. The best thing to do is go try on different boots at your local ski shop to get a deal of what kind/style of boot best fits your foot.

Salomon quest has had some issues, but its only been on the interchangeable soles (atleast that was the huge reason people started hating it, initially.)

If you really want a touring boot, look at Black Diamond. I have their new Quadrant, which from just walking around in them are a truly amazing feeling boot, and that new boa adjustment is a really good idea. But the down side is it only works with touring bindings.

However, BD also has the Factor, which is ALOT like the Quest, in that it has interchangeable soles that allows you to switch from an Alpine Touring binding, to an alpine binding, but watch out if you have big feet, the walk-ski switcher tends to break on the larger sizes.

So yeah, just look around, and if you got any questions, feel free to ask.

good luck on your search

Thanks for the info guys! Good link on the Boots,

I always have intended to get fitted properly at a shop. Just want to make sure there isn't any products out there that have bad build quality, fail, break easy etc.

Once again thank you for your information

Jon

i ride the tecnica agent 120s.

i would definitely look into agents, or the tecnica dragon slayers. they are a solid all mountain ski, they can handle everything and have great shock absorbtion. they are also a little wider

or if you have a real wide foot, go with like the phoenix 110 hvl

Also check out Nordica, Some of their all mountain boots are a bit on the wider side, and will hold your weight.
