I'm a bigger skier, bout 6'3' 200lbs. I ride like 50/50 mtn and park. what kind of boots would you guys reccomend? I hear the 1080's are too soft for someone my size. any ideas would be appreciated.

182 or 188 Scratch BC, 179 maybe 189 (depending on how good a skier you are and how much you like BC) Seth Pistols, 185 ARVs, cant think of any others right now. Maybe Volkls, v-pro or v-explosive (but last years so you have the tip)

Whatever you do dont get a foam core ski. A buddy of mine is 6'3' 230lb and has 185 pocket rockets. From January-April he went through 4 pairs. He has since told Salomon to go fuck themselves.

Last Week I went to Outdoor school Camp with my grade. My teacher was in a Field talking to his Girlfriend at 11:30 pm, my friend and I were suspicious so we flashed a flaslight in the eyes of my teacher and they were closed. We Burst out laughing I said'His having phone sex'. So the Next Day I went around and told EVERYONE in my grade what happened last night. I said to them 'on the count of 3 we'll say MR. GIBSON were you MASTERBATING last night. My teacher we so red, it was fucking Hilarious

My Teacher: Yeah I Whack The Dog

My Mom: sleep all day, party all night

Another story coming soon...

mattman how the fuck do you know if they are good boots if you got them two days ago, have you skied in them yet or even worn them for long periods or do they just look nice sitting on your bedroom floor

Buying boots without trying them on is completely retarded.

Banshee's have always been a pretty good boot (yes Ihave skied them in the past). The only problem really is the infamous lange bang (shin bang - which sucks), and that Lange has gone to a rather narrow upper, so if you have decent sized calfs you might not fit em too well.

But, if your looking for boots, go to a bunch of shops, get different opinions. Most higher end boots are all pretty good with slight variations (the cuff may be different, heel room, toe box, the list goes on and on). Basically find something that you are comfortable in, and remember that boots are much more flexible when they are warm, and also realize that your feet/legs have not shrunk down yet (yes they shrink in the winter due to the cold weather and constant exposure to ski boots), so make sure that you don't get a boot that is 'super comfy' now, becuase changes are that you'll be swimming in the boot once the season really gets going.

thanks manus, that sums it up

ya get teh fuckin promodel. My bro has them and he loves the. not to soft and not to stiff. Dont get a boot that is too soft, thats pussy shit and theres no performance

Yeah I love my Pro Models. Way stiffer than 1080s but still have the cork footsole to pad big landings. They are plenty stiff to keep up with the way I ski and definetely out perform my piece of shit foam-core 1080s.

I used to have Lange L10 Race boots. They were only a bit stiffer than the Pro Models, and unless on race skis you aren't going to notice a difference, and I have yet to experience shin bang, which was a common problem I agree with Langes. I was loyal for about 6 years but finally had enough.

Plus the Pro Models have a clear shell, and thats cool. So thats the main reason you should buy them.

I know that for me, the Pro-Model seemed to be too tight in the upper, would cut-off the circulation. Remember that there is a lot that can be done to a boot to better the fit. I am thinking of getting 1080's, booster straps, and custom footbeds (and even possibly foam liners if needed).

The last pair of Salomon boots I had were far to soft in warmer weather and hella stiff in cold weather, they seemed oddly succeptable to weather (in terms of the changing stiffness). But you also have to remember when trying out boots that your feet will shrink a bit in the winter, and the boots will feel softer in the store than they will on the hill (the cold air makes them stiffer).

Hopefully I wont have too much boot work to go through this year.

Good luck on the boot search, and make sure you buy the boot that is the closest to the performance you are looking for as well as the closest to a comfortable and appropriate fit. You can't expect a boot of the shelf to fit you perfect, just get it close and a good shop should be able to do the rest.

I am in the same hole anyone heard of SES salomon boot coming out this winter, anything good its supposed to be good for walking and skiing and park urban shit sounds good to me

thx for all the help, i tried on 1080's and nordica w 8s. I fell completely in love with the W8s. Same flex as the 1080s but a little more agressive angle and just fit my foot better and felt more comfortable. I CANT WAIT TO RIDE.

yo man as soon as i saw ure height n weight i think u should buy a pair of Rossi Softs i rode on them last year.... they were a bit 2 heavy 4 me cuz im really light but they were super comfortable n super strong so u might wanna consider buyin a pair of softs
