Boots tight of loose?

tighter the boot is the better the response you have over your ski
so aka easier movement of your skis.
so i have mine pretty tight. i loosen them every time i get on the lift though.

my race/freeride boots fit super snug so i don't have to crank down the buckles, that being said they're still very tight
for my touring boots i crank the buckles as far as they go along with a booster strap and i still get pretty weak support in them but they're not really made to be supportive, they're made to be easy to climb in

when people are saying loose, i dont think they mean unbuckled or like buckled but not really doing anything. i consider my boots loose, but there is definitely not room for my calves to move(when im just standing there). i dont crank mine as tight as they go, or until they hurt, but i still keep them tight enough to ski well. ive tried every different level of tightness and IMO it doesnt really help me to make them so tight it hurts. but if your boots arent at least "very snug" then it will hurt your skiing.

and all that was just for park. if im actually skiing i make them tighter.

technically my shoe size corresponds to a 28.5 mondo ski boot. I buy 27.5 ski boots. They pack out and they should be almost zero movement of the foot inside. ESPECIALLY heel movement, heel left/movement kills performance.

and the only reason well fitting (tight) boots help this problem is by acting as a support for your ankle and lower calf. so if you're not prone to shin-splints then you can have your boots as loose as you want unless your feet fall out

HAVE A PROFESSIONAL FIT YOUR BOOTS. THEN WEAR THEM AS SAIS BOOTFITTER RECOMMENDS. that should really be the end of the conversation. Boots were made to be worn as they were meant to be worn. If you do not wear your boots as such, you are sacrificing your own personal safety, health and well-being. The risk outweighs the benefits. By wearing your boots loose you are risking severe injury. Wear your boots as they were meant to be worn and you will stay safe, have a better fit and more control over your skis (which is the purpose of a boot). You are not sacrificing the performance of your boot or your park skills by wearing your boots properly. Again, the risks and hazard outweigh the benefits (which are almost nonexistent in the first place).

seconded.

as for my boots? second skin fit, killer tight heel hold (i dont like my heel moving, at all.) stiff, responsive lateral flex, with a progressive softer forward flex to help absorb impact. oh i love my full tilts.

Bingo. That is how my FT's are too.* Run the strap over the toungue for more stiffness, under for more flex. Thread should be more like this... Boots stiff or flexy?

*Boot fitted and I have skinny (like really skinny) feet. Get boot fitted peoples!

yea this sums up a good boot fit really accurately. If youre in a boot thats too big youre fucked, period.
