BOOTS: Salomon QST 120 vs Full Tilt Wallisch

I see a 22 page boot thread, not even going in there, hahaha.

I am coming from an older Tom Wallisch boot, jus got Salomon QST 120. My aging self is skiing less park so wanted a mid-range stiffness boot.

First two days in the boot they ski SO different than the full tilts I was in. I feel like they make me stand up way straighter, engaging turns feels much different and popping off tails has me more back seat. I heard from a friend that "ski them hard for a few days" and they will feel different but not sure about that. Anyone have some comments on Salomon boots position being much different than others or maybe my softer old boot was just heavily broken in? I preferred the feel of being in front of boot much more. Maybe you get used to them? Any mechanical adjustment available to make them a more forward position?

Sound off!

It's a very upright boot, plus it has a ski walk mechanism... the only way you are going to get more forward is to put a forward lean shim/wedge/spoiler behind your calf.

I've been on the QST 130's for about 1 season and while I have gotten used to the upright stance, I'm not at all surprised it's throwing you off after coming from FT's.

The lack of rearward support is also noticeable in tail butters / popping off tails. But for all-mountain use (i.e. not park) I've been fine with it, only complaint is on backseat landings on bigger drops.

But yeah, as Nerdy mentioned, looking into adding a spoiler / shim is probably your best (only?) option. I haven't gone this route, but more upright boots don't bother me all that much.

Thank you for this! Totally put that tail butter and pop feeling in perspective. Think I am going to bail out and go back to a Full Tilt or Dalbello. Doesn't seem like "breaking in" is going to make the boots feel like I want them to.
