Boot Sole lengths

Right, So im getting some skis mounted and the shop wants to know the sole length of my boot, but i dont currently own a pair ( i outgrew my last pair ), so i need to know the sole lenght of a U.S mens size 7 boot, any help?
 
Sorry man, but the sole length of a boot is different from manufacturer to manufacturer..

My Salomon, 27.5's have a sole of 316mm, but my Lange 27.5's have a 308mm boot sole.

(27.5 is about a US size 9.5 to a 10)

It'll all depend on what brand of boot fits your foot best to determine your sole length. Why don't you just wait to have your bindings mounted until you have boots. Any decent shop will give you a rain check on the mounting fee, If you bought the gear with them.

Otherwise c'mon up to Blue and I'll mount them for you when you have boots, Gratis!!
 
Oh yeah, a size 7 foot is probably around a 25.5 boot.

You're sole lenght could be anywhere from 266cm to 289cm..

Big difference when having your bindings mounted, and I'm assuming you're on twins, so you don't want to do too many re-mounts.
 
I just need a kind of average, like if i mount them to the lowest length of a 25, they'll be ajustable to fit slightly bigger boots,
 
again man, that depends on the bindings and how much travel they have. Some brands only move 30 to 50mm.

OK,

I just had a guy at a shop (no names) look at a 5 pair of 25.5 boots. After doing the math, the average was 295mm bootsole.

I'd really advise waiting to have them mounted until you have you boots, but I'm pretty sure you can go with about a 295mm.

Question though?? Doesn't the shop you're having the skis mounted at sell boots? Then they could pull a 25.5 from the wall and use it as a guide for mounting. It's what I'd do in this case...

With most boots, a 25 and a 25.5 will share the same shell, so they have the same boot sole length. Difference is really just the liner is a tad bit bigger or smaller. However, with certain boots, a 25, and 25.5 are different shells, the only ones I've really come across would be this years Atomics, I think the M:9? Not sure on that one though. But for most boots, 25 and 25.5 share the same shell. And like the guy above said, different brands have different sole lengths. They are usually within the same range however, a 25 in Salomon will be about 2-3 mm's off from a Tecnica for example.
 
As long as you have it down to a 25-25.5 you're fine. Yes, the boot soles will vary between companies, but your binding will usually have enough adjustment in it to compensate for any different lengths. Just make sure you have the size down before you do anything, and readjust them regardless of what they're set at...
 
GET THE BOOTS FIRST!!! Don't give them an estimate number. Even though bindings do have adjustment, if you give them the exact measurement you will have a lot less worries.

I think i will wait until i accually get some boots,

and whilst i'm here, any recondmendations on boots,

i ski about 40% park, 40% groomers and 20% pow,

just to clear up sizing its very simple.....a mens size 7 is a 25, take the two digit number, add the digits and you get the american size. make sense? EXAMPLE size 29.5 boot? 2+9.5 = 11.5 US......and usually half sizes wont have a different sole length, all about the liner
 
Half sizes WILL have a different sole length. Mondo sizing isn't all that accurate. I wear a size 10 shoe, but for boots I wear a 26.5 which is CLOSE TO a men's 8.5. Just get boots that fit correctly first and everything will be a whole lot easier from then on.
 
Go toyour shop, and get fitted.

Recommending boots over the internet works about as well as an E-Blowjob.

Really the best boot out there is the one properly fitted to your foot.

Try on at least 3 brands before buying anything, there really is ONE boot that is best for you, a good shop will insist on trying you in a few different ones before they take your money.
