Boot Skiing is illegal.

Yah some employees are way to up tight. My friend and I have gone boot skiing, and emplyees give us wierd looks but don't say anything.. itd suck to loose my pass
 
Seriously man? How do you possibly think that will help his situation in the least bit? They start receiving hate mail and he has no chance of getting his pass back...

But Bo man, posting this is not helping your cause. To try and clear things up, from what I've heard, the problem isn't simply that you were trying to boot ski, it's that you disobeyed what the lift attendant at the bottom of the double chair told you. He said that you couldn't go up the chairlift without skis, so you went to the triple chair. Yes the lifty at the bottom of the triple should have stopped you as well, that part is a Toggenburg employee's fault, but the fact that you went to the triple after being told you can't go up without skis is why you got in trouble. Not many people know that going up the chair during the winter is actually illegal in NY without something to slide on that has metal edges and brakes/a leash (skis, boards, sled dogs, snow skates, ski bikes, etc.). This is why Togg, as well as most other NY ski areas, are so strict about this. Liability is everything...

I'm looking into the whole situation and I'll try to help you out. Posting stuff like this on the internet is not going to be helping your cause at all though man. I'm sorry that there was such a big misunderstanding, but as a Togg employee you just have to make sure to watch yourself at all times (even in a seemingly trivial situation such as boot skiing). I'm sorry that this all happened and I'll see what I can do for you.

Dude we used to always do that when i used to race! And we skied one ski, slide down to the bottom on our shin guards, kick our skis off on the chair and boot ski down to them! All those bring back good memories!
 
Idk what this hate on him for posting is all about- i wouldve done the same thing. hes mad, confused, and wants advice from the ski community. half of the threads on here are asking for advice. you make it sound like hes bashing togg when he said he wasnt, he just doesnt think its fair and i dont either. CNY rules are gay, but just keep all nice about it because the law is on their side, shit should be fine. people just need to chillllll
 
Guys i appreciate the support, however, there is really no need to be sending any hate mail to togg or anyone who works for togg. The decision to clip my pass does not reflect on toggs park or park crew at all. They do an excellent job props to nick and jack for sure. They knew the skis were ours because we simply left them near a tree at the bottom of the lift. we didnt know they were going to be impounded so we thought it was legit to just leave them.
 
boot ski in the park. they won't touch you in the park.

i was skiing with a crew of freeskiiers at a little mountain in wester Maryland and we were hiking this TINY little "learn to ride" box and this rainbow with a perfect tranny

we were at it for an hour and we lost track of time, and it was a freaking blast until this chunky lady on a sled came riding towards the bottom of the park and FLIPS CHUNKS at us. turns out the mountain had closed 25 minutes ago, and they forgot to sweep the park.

she was getting angry and we were taking our time getting out when i look upwards and see this burly but gaperish patroller booking it down a slope towards us.

that tore it, seeing as no one wanted a clipped pass, we booked it out, except for my friend johnny, who had stashed his coat at the top of the rainbow inrun. after he hiked back to get it, he gets cornered by this patroller and the fat lady brings the snowmobile closer to him and they yell like crap so we go up and start arguing saying that he had to get his coat, and we didn't know the time. after a few minutes, they po tells everyone but johnny to leave, so we go back to the lodge and then he turns back to johnny and johnny just books it.

we all made it out, passes in hand. it was flippping intense
 
^ i forgot to point out that we were hitting the rainbow in our boots and slaying out butters and pretzels.
 
Thats just rediculous cuz I also race and our team and coaches bootski all the time as a training method.
 
omg, if this was illegal funny thing there are no signs, like the signs no slalom in the lift and so on. sooooo yeah, they cant just take your pass.... (season pass?) or they could if there were a sign " you have to read all the rules before u ski" :P

that sucks. i cant say ive ever thought about actually riding up a lift without skis and boot skiing the whole way down, but boot skiing is still an important part of dicking around when youre bored. i cant stand how they always pull that theft of services bullshit for everything. its not like you skied without a paid ticket. also, im pretty sure it doesnt say anywhere in the fine print on the back of lift tickets that boot skiing is against the rules.
 
This may seem odd to those of you out West but in the East and Midwest many resorts do not allow downloading for liability reasons. Or at least that's what i was told when I asked to ride the chair down to my car. (The hill I ski at is upside down, but there is a parking lot at the bottom with no facilities, and I often park there.)
 
Deffinetly. I felt like crap for a good full day after eating those. Totally worth it at the time though.
 
You park at the top of the hill then ride down to the bottom then take the lift back up to the parking lot? etc?

whistler doesnt mind bootskiing... a patroller just laughed and told us we were stupid.
 
best bootskiing I've seen in a long time! half the jerks at my mountain can't ski that well let alone bootski.
 
Got stuck on the lift there today for 2 hours while it was -10, they didnt call for help or anything. Come on togg
