Boot Liner

Ok so last year was my first year skiing and i got free boots from my cousin. They fit perfect except for my toes stick into the end. Last season i got black toenails and every time i landed they hurt like hell. My question is can i mold them myself somehow? I dont know if they are moldable liners. Is there a way I can just punch it out to make my toes fit better?

+K for help

I know my reply is going to sound very generic but here goes:

Go see a bootfitter as they have all the tools to customize your boots and you don't want to risk the chances of damaging your boots.

Good luck!

One more thing, it's probably the shell (the hard part of the boot) that needs to be customized instead of the liner (the soft part).

They honestly sound too small for you. Don't mess up your feet. Go to a bootfitter and get something right for your foot.

I have already spent way too much on skis and a pass this year. I was hoping to get atleast another year out of them. I heard somewhere gel insoles work?

The first response was correct, you don't need a boot liner, a footbed typically helps to give your toes some more space, or you could get someone to punch out the shell where your toes are.

But you should go to your local shop and talk to a bootfitter about it, bring your boots, get measured, tell them what the problem is, ask for their advice and tell them that you don't have the money for new boots and they should be able to help you out for $5-$40 depending on what you will be needing.

As has already been said they is nothing you can do yourself to sort it out.

Your boots may be too big, too small or just require fitting. A good start would be to take them to a good boot fitter and have them see if they roughly fit your foot. If the shell is teh correct size then the first thing yo should do is buy a good custom footbed. The Sidas Conformable as the best available in my opion. A custom footbed will support your foot in a neutral position, often making your foot shorter. This may be all you need. If they still feel a little tight then you can get the toe box of the shell stretched. A good shop would usually do the stretch for free if you buy a footbed at the same time.

So overall no here is not really any thing you can do at home, and to your question about gel inserts,no they prob wont help, a good stiff custom footbed is usually going to help allot more.

If your boots are too big, there is not much you can do unfortunately.
