Boot help

For the past three seasons I have been riding SPKs (got fitted for them)

last year, i noticed my foot sliding around in the boot, yet the cuff around my calf was still tight. The boot fitters in my area (syracuse NY) don't really know much about park boots, so i need to go in to the shop with a recommendation on a boot. i would go for the SPKs again, but i know they are for wider feet, which i don't have

I have a normal/narrow foot, with pretty skinny calves (full tilts do not work for me)

any tips on a park specific boot would be great.

go packers,

Peter

yes, i know i need a narrower boot, but i need a narrower boot that also has a narrow cuff.

i'v gone through the same experience. I have fairly small calves and i personally have found Full Tilts fit me perfect. I previously had a pair of SPK 90s which fit me good around the ankle and calve/shin area but my forefoot always rotated left and right. another boot that may be worth looking into is the Dalbello Il Moro which has a 98mm last

cuff volume can usually (and successfully) adjusted by a competent boot-fitter applying foam pads to the liner (sides and/or rear). If you find a boot that has a good lower shell fit but the cuff seems to be sloppy, a boot-fitter should be able to fix that for you.

If your shop sell salomon see if they have the ghost 110. It's the boot which most of the salomon riders are using a for park now. The spk is a little out of date now, its being updated but is not ready quite yet. The ghost has a 98 mm last, rubber footboard and low volume cuff. The flex is adjustable from 110 to 100. There is also a 130 flex version but we found the 110 was enough for most people. The shell is not full custom though so if you don't have a good fitting shop maybe look at the Xmax 100. The shell and as of next season cuff is full custom. This means by simply heating the shell like you would a liner you can change the shape of the shell. We found we coul get them up to 15mm wider with some work so they can fit allot of feet. Again the flex is adjustable up to 110. It does not have a rubber boot board but you can use a ghost one in it. Have a try of those boots but you would still be best off having the fitter asses your feet. A custom footbed will also help massively with keeping your feet secure so make sure you get some full customs fitted at the same time.

if you have a normal/narrow foot you were fit wrong for SPK's, no boot fitter ever accounts for how much they pack out. Some extra padding around your ankle will help keep your foot back and a shim under the liner will help lower the over all volume.

but as far as what boot to look into for a new one, nordica makes some really nice options that fit right between an spk and normal FT fit wise, and are also 3 piece designs

Padding the heel may not help keep his foot back, a sinus pad over the instep or padding the tounge would be more effective. Jars round the heel may just push him forward. But his issue is the forefoot. The only thing that may help that is a custom footbed but really in a boot which is too wide that won't really be that effective.

And in terms of the boot packing out, he is in the 90 which does not have a heat mold liner so it will not have packed out too much as its a firm liner. The higher level liners will pack out but no more then any other liner. If your finding they are packing out allot you new to be stopping movement I side the boot by using a custom footbed ect.

these are the boots i have, SPK Kaos's from like 2011 or 2010

I had the same problem, sort of. I got fitted for Full Tilt booters, but my calf is stuff too small for it. I just put the strap under the tongue, and sinch it super tight. My foot fits perfect, though.
