boot flex

What kind of flex should I be looking for in a freeride ski boot? I'm a little on the hefty side (205 lbs) and was looking at the Salomon X-Wave 10.0. Is that gonna be way too stiff for jumping?

the flex on the x-wave 10 boot is 110. So it is stiff but at the same time boots are getting softer in forward flexing and stiffening on the torsion flex, since thats how ski's are going. The boot i have is the Nordica Beast and its a stiff boot, and i have no problem

in salomon you would be looking for like a 105 flex i would say. that would be for all around skiing. i wouldnt go any less then 90 for park only (pro model) or maybe 120 for a bit more aggressive skiing. im 155lbs and i run the 1080 (75 flex) and i find that nice for park but i wish i had the 90flex of the pro model. so judge yourself accordingly

'some say i'm that girl... i say, wow that's wonderful! but you're still not getting any. now quit sniffing me! i don't even know you!'

The new 1080 boot's flex is 85 flex, the x-wave 9 flex is 100, the x-wave 10 is 110, the crossmax 10 is 110, and you don't even want to look at the equipe boots. The other question you have to ask your self is that are you doing more free riding or jumping. If you are doing both go with the x-wave 9 boots or last years crossmax 10 boot

i have the Nordica dobermans, 150 flex as stiff as they get these days, not great for jumps but amazing for ski performance, i recomend the Nordica Beasts ive tried it and its the most amazing boot ever, so comftorable and not to soft

BE YOURSELF

as a heavier person you are going to want a stiffer flexing boot, even for jumps. don't go below 80, but still you dont want super stiff like 110.

I dont do park all that much, mostly big mountain stuff, and I love my 1080 promodel (95 flex). great response, but still soft enough for the park if I want to.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day

i have the x-wave 10s and have no problems with them. thhey are the most comfy boots i have ever had. i always hated boots till i got those

I ride on this years Supercross (SX9) boots from Atomic. They're built on teh same chasis as the Tweak and some others. Now, I like to be very mobile when I ski, lots of movement, flexion extension blah blah blah. So I like a soft boot. I'm strong and weigh about 180 but i like the control you can have by using your legs to control flexion as opposed to how much pressure you balance on your boot ... if that makes sense.

It means you need a little more beef on teh quads to suck up hard landings but you can exact way more control over your ski (and it makes odd tweaks easier as well).

i have a pair of techniqa boots they are not real stiff but not too flexy i really like them for a good all around boot!

Nordica's freeride series is REALLY nice. I tried 1080s and the Wave 5s (lowest of the 4 moels in Nordica's series) KILLED the 1080 boot for comfort, flex, and performance.
