Booster Straps

So I'm going to invest in booster straps but I am not sure whether I need the Standard (Intermediate) or Expert booster straps. Does anybody know if you can actually tell a big difference between the two? The website on Skimetrix says that the standard cover someone up 210 pounds and I am definitely under that. I will most likely go with the standard straps but am looking for feedback. Thanks

Standards have 2 elastic straps and expert have 3. I honestly wish I had gotten the expert. I am 5ft 11in and 155ish lbs. if you ski decently hard I would suggest the experts.

Why are you being an ass? That was a legitimate question that needs an answer to recommend the proper strap.

not sure why you're being facetious, but if you're a strong, aggressive skier, get the experts, if not get the standard.

how much do you weigh? according to my booster strap package if you are an expert, and weight more than 120 pounds you should be in the expert. if you are more than 170 world cup

I have both standart and wc booster straps. Wc works better for me, it really tightens the boot and makes it a little stiffer which I find nice. Expert is, like, non-existent. I'm 155 and not agressive, I mostly do small technical tricks, butters and such. So I suggest looking at the expert strap at least.

depends how what it's for- standard will cushion you pretty well for landings etc. Expert if you're charging big mountain and cliffs etc.

I love my boosters- totally fixed my boot & skiing problems. My tip is to put them underneath the tongue of your boots, but over the back, so that you're anchoring your shin to the back piece- this may not be the most correct way to do it, but i've found that is what works best for me

I do not ski the most aggressive style and where I'm from there are not the biggest jumps you will see so I think I am going to go with the intermediate, or two elastic straps. I know a similar person who skis at the same mountain as me who has the intermediate and has had no complaints

Bump,

Just invested in some Expert straps myself (5'11 180 lb), I've been reading around that the correct way to use these is to strap them around the inner boot or cuff rather than the shell, if it's fastened around the shell then it pretty much does the same thing as a regular power strap. I assume this information is correct?

Another thing I'm curious about is I've read that some people "modify" the shell by cutting off a piece (there is a line on my Lange RS) in order to make more room for the booster strap. Has anyone done this before? I'd like to know more before trying it myself.

I'm using the expert straps at 130lbs and they work fine for me. The big thing you notice with the booster straps versus traditional straps is that they eliminate that dead zone where you have no feeling of your tongue pressing against your shin from when you are unweighted in your boots (from jumps, rollers, or springing out of turns) to where you begin to feel the presence of your boot tongue. It gives you better feedback since your shin is always pressed snugly against the cuff of your boot.

With traditional straps no matter how hard you try to pull the velcro tight you'll always have a small dead zone unless you are pulling them tight to the point of circulation loss. With the ratchet + elastic it really does give you a more responsive feel in your boot. I used to think it was just a gimmick but now that I've used them I don't think I'll ever go back.
