Sup Gear Talk...

So I had a shop install some booster straps on my touring boots for me. The straps were install in a manner that the thick part of the strap is not quite centered in front of the boot. It is just barley askew.

It is hard to see in the picture but it is a little bit more pronounced with my leg in the boot.

Is this something I should be nitpicky about or would you say its fine?

Thanks for your help.

Also do you people rocking boosters just leave the end dangling under your pants or do you tuck it in somewhere?

Doesn't really matter, they become uncentered just from tightening them.

I leave mine untucked so people know how rad I get

A Booster strap should be mounted slightly off (favoring the medial side) because when you tighten it, it will become centered. It looks like they did it right.

But it also depends on how big your leg is... ideally they should have had you in the boot, put the strap around your leg/boot and position it exactly where it should be. If you have a super big calf, then this might be mounted too far to the medial side.

Thanks for the responses guys. Ill be seeing my boot fitter (he was not the one who installed these) this week to get some footbeds worked out, Ill have him take a good look at them with my leg in there.

If it turns out they were install a little off, can they just be redone? Or would the hole from the first install have a chance of tearing? If thats the case I could just pick up another set, But id rather not haha.

Anyway thanks for the insight boys.

If they need to be re-positioned then it usually needs to be enough of a change so the new holes aren't close to the old holes. If the strap isn't perfectly aligned, I really wouldn't worry about it- you just don't want it to be miles off.

this. It will be fine Fuck one of the guys a shred with puts his on completely backwards so the elastic is on his calf...swears it gives him a better fit. WHatever if it works for him.

Is there really any benefit to "mounting" boosters with the screw in the back as opposed to just "lacing" it through the strap eyelets (other than when you carry your boots by the straps they don't pull out)?

When any power strap is fixed to the cuff, it will be more responsive and transmit more energy to the ski. I think you'd find that if you didn't fix it to the cuff it would wander about, or at least slightly move out of position. It's best to just fix it to the cuff.
