I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I just commented on one other thread about this company, and I was saying something in response to a claim about the graphic. i wasn't ripping on them, just noting that someone's claim didn't really seam to make sense (see point in here about being illinformed). As for in this thread, the majority of what I said was just generally talking about new companies (sorry for not staying directly on topic).
"even atomic"? aren't they a european brand? with a factory in austria? they most definately aren't a small, new company, nor is volkl (again, eropean) or K2, which is what I was talking about here. these companies have their own factories, whether they are in their own country is not the point im making right now. these are some of the exact brands that are building outsourced products. and yes, i didn't mean specifically europe, just outsourcing in general. personally (not necessarily reflective of quality), I would just rather buy a ski made by the designer in north america (because I am from here). wasnt really saying the quality is worse in one country or another, though this may be the case, i dont really have too much evidence to back it up. im sure all countries turn out both good and bad products.
And no, Im not saying boone skis suck, im just saying that my first impression (from you reps on ns and the website etc.) is that im not super stoked on this company. i didnt tell anyone not to buy them. just commenting on how i feel about what im seeing. you can take it or leave it, but i would recommend you at least consider what i have to say and maybe, make a few modifications, or not if you truly believe you are doing the best you can and are 100? happy with what you've got.
As far as the 100% bamboo, where did everyone get the idea that bamboo is some ultra light magic material. yes it's pretty damn snappy, holds screws, is strong, etc. but it's not a super light "wood" (I know it's a grass, ok, but it essentially is wood, and in most cases it makes more sense just to call it a wood). ya, it's lighter than ash and a bit lighter than maple, it's heavier than aspen, fir and many other woods. i still think it probably is a legit core material, i just dont get why everyone is claiming that it makes for a cazy light ski.
