to be honest, I don't have much faith in most of you guys in answering this (except a solid 5 or so members), BUT, I ask you guys this. What books would you suggest on foreign policy, economic policy, etc. I've read my fair share (and continue to) of books about history, wars, presidents, important political figures, but I'm lacking knowledge on the basic principles of Policy.

thanks. -sam

thats crazy i have a foreign poliy elective. i would recomend blowback by Chalmers Johnson and there was some book by Gaddis which was really good. they are tough reads but do a good job of covering US policy around the world. Blowback talks about the consequences of US policy, and i a little biased against the US. the Gaddis book relates US foreign policy to the themes of hegemony, unilatteralism, and preemption through a set of major world events. but ya they are really good

my international relations textbook for 2nd year university has a lot of policy related stuff in it. Its CrossCurrents.... International Relations Fourth Edition edited by Mark Charlton, it brings up different issues and has people who are experts in the field one side of the argument in an essay and another expert does the other side.

The March of Folly is good i cant remember who its by but if you go to a book store i bet they could llok it up, also read magazines like the economist and FP you learn a ton.
