Alight newschoolers lets see if you can help me... I'm looking for some new books to read and am wondering what you guys have in mind?? Anything from history to classics to fantasy; i'm all ears!
Oh might as well throw in my two cents for all you boayysjust barely finished a book called Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris my pops gave me for christmas; it is more or less a look at society's low standards for teens today and an overlook at the "myth of adolesence".. didnt agree with everything but a really interesting read
Also just finished a biography called "Driven" about the life of Utah Jazz and philanthropist Larry H. Miller. Pretty interesting as well. If you guys are interested about any good books ive read, lemme know for more! oh and a kindle will change your life brah!
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is a really cool historical non fiction....It's about the design and planning and execution of the Chicago World's Fair with another storyline about a psychopathic serial killer who was there. Really interesting read.
The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan is really interesting so far too; I think Food Inc. was kind of based off it too so it's right along those lines. Real eye opening for sure
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese and State of Wonder by Ann Patchett are two fictions that are highly recommended; they're definitely on my list!
I also really like An American Childhood by Annie Dillard--it's a memoir that doesn't exactly keep you on the edge of your seat or anything, but it's incredibly well written and is full of childhood memories and nostalgia!
If you haven't read Dan Brown or Steig Larsson you're really missing out, too; both of them kept me up til 5am reading, definitely the definition of books you can't put down
I'll second the James Rollins suggestion. It's easier readin but still awesome. If you want a challenge and want to read what is arguably one of the greatest novels of all time check out To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. Read it in my second year English class and it blew my mind, the book is really a piece of art. I could read it 10 more times and still be figuring it out. Took the author 17 years to write it, which should say something about the depth and complexity of the book.
haha diggin the reading rainbow bro... but lately ive been into a lot of historical and biographical works.. But if anyones got anything that has completly blown their mind id love to know
