for the literate ones on this site, let's start a list of books that you'd suggest to others...

My suggestions are:

Freakanomics

Lobster Chronicles

I just finished Davinci Code, For those with an open mind it'l rock your socks, ^^Farenheit 451 was interesting, Patriot Games by Tom Clancy

kurt vonnegut

don delillo

ken kesey

joseph heller

ray bradbury

chuck palahnuik

george orwell

etc.

but mainly read kurt vonnegut- he's the man.

all tom clancy books are good, and then i watched the movie and was disappointed

thats one thing about movies, no reading

timeline, the call of the wild, fear and loathing in las vegas, and the other hunter s thompson book about him and lazlo in hawaii

band of brothers, all quiet on the western front, the broker, the things they carried

and so many others i cant think of at the moment

The Giver (I read it in 5th grade but its still probably my favorite book ever)

Chronicles of Narnia

Map of Bones (a lot like Dan Brown)

Andromeda Strain

Other Michael Crichtons

I'm a pretty shallow reader. I just like to be entertained. I really hate deep meanings and symbolism.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick

Snow White and Russian Red by some polish girl

Million Little Pieces by James Frey

Junior by MacCauley Culkin

Screaming Life by Charles Peterson (well, collection of photos, but fucking sick, about seattle's grunge scene)

Book of the Subgenuis by the Subgenuis Foundation

I recently found out I generally like a book if it has alot of swearing and drug references... apparently i don't give a fuck about plot. Fancy that.

call me crazy, but I didn't like 1984 that much...it dragged on with crazy philosophy that I already knew.

Fight Club is sick if you haven't seen the movie yet

Sam, read anything by Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse-Five is the best! everything else spectacular. trust me I wouldn't lie to you my icon sharing friend!

haha thanks for the suggestion; I've read slaughterhouse five, galapagos, and part of Cat's Cradle. SL5 was great, the others were just ok.

Also, I found Catcher in the Rye a bit boring; anybody else think so? Cause all I see so far is that it's the greatest book ever written.

Read it, but I am not as big of a fan of his crazy explinations for impossible things... and when he is looking for the key, I was scared for him...

read some william s. burroughs...his characters are mostly homosexual drugies. tons of crazy shit. crazy plot or crazy lack of plot. pretty intense and a bit confusing though.

Have you read My Ishmael aswell? Its really good too, My Ishmael makes you think that "My Ishmael" is better than Ishmael, but when you think about it after reading both. Ishmael is by far the better of the two. I want to read Story of B.

Dune is my favorite book. It just draws me in. I also really like Speaker for the Dead (Orson Scott Card) and Timeline (Michael Chricton).

A Million Little Pieces

My Friend Leonard

I'm reading the Celestine Prophecy right now, and I'm going to start Whiteout after I'm done. I'll let you know how they are.
