Book people of NS: book suggestions needed

Im pretty sure thats for women. Like seriously, I thought all the description was about the male body.

if your into sci-fi, i just finished reading some of isaac asimovs work. He is the guy who wrote iRobot etc

Anything by Hunter S. Thompson and "THe Man with the Iron Heart" by Harry Turtledove excellent book. Also Steven King

Several books I couldn't put down:

Into Thin Air by John Krakauer - it's about the 1996 Everest tragedy

Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me by Josef M. Bauer

Going After Cacciato by Tim O'Brian

Honestly, I couldn't stop reading these

Really? this is the only case i can think of where i liked the movie more than the book. Everything seemed real jumbled in it.

I would recommend anything by James Rollins, the Sigma Force series is crazy good. I just got done reading Altar of Eden. His ideas are pretty far out there but his explanations to how some things might happen are awesome.

I just got done reading The Sigma Protocol by Robert Ludlum, fantastic book. Also everything by Clive Cussler is amazing.

just read Scanner Darkly by Philip K Dick a couple weeks ago and it was pretty sick. its a scifi book where 75% of the population is addicted to this drug called substance D and the main character is a police officer working undercover hanging out with a bunch of dope fiends trying to find the source of this drug. the plot may sound kinda lame however the book is a real mind twister, plus its full of a bunch of really funny drug talk between the characters. Its a definite must read.

I love Cussler! The plot in all of his books are the same and ridiculously predictable, but they are definitely entertaining and whenever I just want to shut my brain off when I read I usually go to a Cussler.

I'm not a big reader but I couldn't put down the series by Ted dekker the books are black, red, and white the prequel is green it's a hard series to explain but his web site does a pretty good job.

all of tom clancy's books are really good, like hunt for red october, etc.

also ayn rand's books are fantastic, like the fountainhead or atlas shrugged

Shadow of the Wind, written by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Live, written by Leonard Mlodinow

most of the above and Leepike Ridge and 100 Cupboards if you are into more Harry Poterish kinda fantasy

If you want more fantasy, eragon series, really entertaining, pretty easy to readPendragon is entertaining, but sorta elementary

Bartimaeus trilogy is one of my favorite fantasy series

Lord of the Rings, really, amazingly good, but if you're going to read them, read the hobbit first, and take note that they read like epics, because they are. He uses weird word choice and syntax, and you need to think about a lot of the events on a different scales to appreciate them fully.

Finch so cool, very unique writing style, somewhat difficult to read because the whole book is written in sentence fragments, just like the narrator's unedited stream of thoughts.

SCI-FI

Sci-fi is like fantasy, but better, I always find many fantasy books oriented towards 15 years and under, but Sci-fi has many similar elements but with more mature writing styles

The Enders game books, There are basically two series, the main series, and the Shadow series. The two that are most worth reading are Enders Game and Speaker for the dead, Truly my two favorite books

Childhoods End, Arthur C. Clarke, SO FRIGGIN COOL

Hunger Games, only read the first one, I know you won't, but I warned you!

Classics

The Giver, Read it, it's like 150 pages, and it's amazing

Hard times, its hard to read, but the plot structure is beautiful.

The Book Thief, really really good, I cried

And Dean Koontz has great stuff, but some of it is sorta hit or miss, go for the first 4 odd thomas books, sole survivor, life expectancy, hideaway, and voice of the night

and Michael Chricton is good too!

^^^^^^^^

BARTIMAEUS IS THE SHIT BUT MY SISTERS STOLE THE LAST ONE SO I NEVER FINISHED IT AAARRRGGGHHHHH

pendragon is also cool for an easy read

if you want something a bit different and a tad gruesome check out the demonata by darren shan. it's about demons and shit. easy read but realllyyy cool horror-y novels

artemis fowl is cool too. elves and magic and technology and stuff.

dan brown.

11/22/63 by Stephen King.

I read quite a bit and I can usually get through a book quickly, but I absolutely plowed through this one.

These are just books I like, maybe you'll like them too. Animal farm is a great book, also The Dharma Bums and On the Road by Jack Kerouac. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas By Hunter Thompson. Lord of the Flies, these are just some of my favorites. Not Fantasy, but worth checking out.

I've been going back through and reading a lot of the books I was supposed to in Junior/High School.

-The Great Gatsby

-To Kill a Mockingbird

-White Fang

-Lord of the Flies

etc.

Been refreshing because I read a lot of non-fiction and journals for my research and classes which tend to be really wonky and dry.

The "Gone" series is my favorite. Basically all the adults disappeared, and all these teenagers have to survive on there own, then there is monsters, powers, fuckin lazers, everything goes to shit. The 6th book is coming out soon and that's the conclusion to the series, but I would really recommend it. It's for young adults but it does ask some really deep philosophical questions.
