Bono-"I am just a rock star"

I'm sorry to all you U2 fans but this guy is just too much. What the hell is he doing going to other countries and getting into their political disputes. Sure he does some great stuff trying to stop AIDS but the guy was quoted saying to the PM of Canada that he broke his to raise Canada's spending on foreign aid. Also i saw him being interviewed on Much Music and he kept saying "I'm just a Rock Star".

Just read the quote i found. It's Bono talking about the new album.

"It's full-on, a full-throttle record. It's like punk rock made on Venus. It is a mad sound The Edge is making. People are saying, 'Bono, people are sick of you. You've been around, you've been winning all these awards. You have to go away for a while.' This record is so good that it won't even matter that people are sick of U2. And by the way, I'm sick of Bono - and I am Bono."

I fucking hate him, I love his I'm just a rockstar quote, and for god sakes hes just a rockstar!

feck right off

-------Numbers have dehumanized us. Over breakfast coffee we read of 40,000 American dead in Vietnam. Instead of vomiting, we reach for the toast. Maybe Bono has Aids, and that's the real reason he's trying to help people... He's just a Shameless self promoter..

Gotta love his perma shades, they are never coming off.....

that first picture made me wanna sock him in the face. U2 does have some good songs tho. sunday bloody sunday? cmon thats a great song

the gunshot holds no fear

Bono is a deuchebag

he is so peace loving and shit but gives money to the IRA. Fuck him. His music isn't bad though.

The smart man does not know everything, rather the smart man admits when he knows nothing.

perma shades? try perma mid life crisis.

besides these world issues that he attempts to draw audiences to are not performed in a lasting way. he just attaches it to music trends and image, which is not conducive to leaving a lasting impression on audiences, they just move on to something else and forget about it. for any that are old enough remember 'live aid' it was filled with the same blatantly obvious self-serving crap.

IRA like in International Reading Association?

ya what a fucking dick, promoting world literacy. asshole, but bono is a pile

U2 is the biggest pile of shit i have ever heard. i can't believe that they are still making records, and still have a fan base. they only reason that they ever took off in the first place is because all other bands from the 80 sucked balls. Fuck U2,and fuck Bono

I'm totally in if it is started, I hate bono. U2 is good, but only if you want to pick up chicks or impress them.

'I like long walks on the beach...sipping champagne by the fire...gutting dear... (Tweaks_Rock_me)

"Silly faggot, dicks are for chicks." (Skierman)

For some reason I think he meant the Irish Republican Army (IRA)... A terrorist group (depending on how you look at it)

Great minds think alike, Ian.

"I think if the guy is doing something, it's better than nothing -- but I just wonder if he's following through," said Rollins. "Like he's Mr. Africa Third World Debt Guy, which is a huge issue...Now, I hate this guy's music, but I like the idea of absolving Third World debt, because otherwise these people are going to die. So if he's using all that rock-star power...well, right on. But now he's Mr. AIDS Guy. Well, wait a minute, how did you go from Third World debt to AIDS?"

Bono- he is way too overconfident in himself, but his music is great. I listen to it often, every album is good. when he sings its great but when he starts talkin, he full of himself, love the music but not him

The Joshua Tree was an excellent album, everything after that just started going to shit and Bono's head continued to inflate.

Oh but everybody thinks

That everybody knows

About everybody else

Nobody knows

Anything about themselves

Cause their all worried about everybody else

this conversation ends right here; that way none of us have to look at his name at the top of page one every day.

then entire religion faculty at my school is obsessed with U2 and they go to U2 concerts together. imagine seeing a philosophy teacher, a theology teacher, a church history teacher, a world religions teacher and a few nuns thrown in there for good measure at a U2 concert. or any concert for that matter. when we asked them how it was, the only thing Dr. Murphy and Dr. Raab would say "It was a religious experience."

im going to add that if you listen to pre 1990 U2, you will not be disappointed. most likely. U2 greatest hits 1980-90 is one of the best cd's in my collection. actually, it isnt mine, i stole it from my sister. to get back at her for buying me achtung baby for christmas one year, and then stealing it back for herself the next day, never to be seen or heard by me again. but thats neither here nor there. i agree that if you focus on their recent material, you'll really wonder what all the fuss over U2 is about. do some research, dig up their late 70's to early early 90's material, and listen to music that shaped modern rock and roll as we know it.

exactly, all that you can't leave behind and the latest one are way horrible. i have very fond memories of driving to ski camp one and half hours with pop and achtung baby playing all the way, and then getting to the top of chamrousse, just classic stuff for me.
