Bone Zone Cork 7 vid

hey I saw a clip this year of someone just hucking the piss out of a cork 7 at Brighton’s Bone Zone, all while almost taking out a bunch of people hiking. Does anyone have the vid/know where I can find it?

I saw it on the alt.skiers IG account but it was a story and not there anymore. Might hardpost later tho

People seemed to have a problem with it? I was a little confused

because mans wasn't on Vishnu's or jetskis, spun over 7, got corked, and entered the bonezone snowboarders' sacred impenetrable personal space (minus one million Core social credit)

First off if you are hiking close to features you best be ready to get out of the way, secondly I get stoked on an awesome trick regardless of who is throwing it (skier or boarder) so I don't understand the disgruntling

If anything a hucked ungrabbed cork 7 on a janky bump is way cooler then a cork 7 on a park jump lol

Ya literally, I guess boarders were upset or something but like what do u expect people are going hard! That was insane that kid is just like fuck it, preseason? Time to chuck my carcass. Honestly a G

but bro, they're boarders bro.

honestly if they had their way they would just ban us from there. Some of the complaints they make about skiers are legit, like how skiers all tend to hit the same feature over and over and fuck it up and then don't shovel. I witnessed that a bunch of times. But complaining about guys boosting cork 7s is clearly just some aggro b-town boarder shit. They don't want us to be a part of their special community. They should just proclaim the bonezone to be a snowboarding "safe space" so they don't have to suffer through watching people have fun on skis.

I've been riding at Trollhaugen for years and have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours riding with snowboarders from first day to legendary pros and almost none of them were anything other than really nice, fun to be around and supportive of whatever you were doing. We have elitism in skiing too and it's wack as fuck. I'm not cooler than you because of rules me and my friends made up in our heads that no one else is aware of. Gatekeeping generally comes from a place of insecurity and says a lot more about them than you.

all very true. I got nothing against snowboarders I think snowboarding is sick af, but I definitely got some mega gatekeepy vibes from them at brighton sometimes.

Yeah there were a few dudes up there looking down on the 2 plankers from what I noticed as well. Definitely not everyone though.

Yeah well said, but a place like this gonna attract boarders from a socioeconomic class that don't breed skiers.

Just so everyone knows the background story:

The original Bonezone was in Guardsman Pass and was snowboarders only(keep in mind skiers started this division when they made ski only resorts in the 80s/90s). They built and maintained the features and everyone riding helped shovel, or they were asked to leave. One summer, the forest service cut down everything and made it clear that anyone leaving features(trash) on National Forest Land would be ticketed. It was some of these guys who first to went to Brighton and asked if they could make a community preseason hike park so people would have somewhere to ride before resorts open.

It has always been dig to ride and while I know some people aren't aware of this on their first day, the shovel breaks they take(where they ask everyone to help) and the posts they make on IG should clearly get the point across. If you don't own a shovel, you can use one of the many people have left up there(the lost and found is the log bench with all the clothes/shovels leaning on it). You can also pack down and slip landings or help move tarp loads of snow. Leaving just before the last group shovel at the end of the day on purpose is just as wack as not helping in the middle. I'm emphasizing this shoveling point because as stated above skiers have definitely been more guilty of not shoveling than snowboarders.

When hiking and putting skis on, people often don't realize they are in the way. This is especially true in the in run and landing of the first rail on the skiers right side. With most ski tricks, you can go flatbase and straight into and out of a rail, but snowboarding generally requires a set up turn to get on edge and take the right line into a feature. This is where a lot of close calls happen(tips get run over, collisions in the landing etc). If people get seriously hurt at Bonezone, Brighton will be forced to shut it down. That is why some people get pissed when someone is being loose or going fast next to a crowd of people.

If someone calls you out for something, try not to instantly get defensive about it and feed into a skiers vs. snowboarders type vibe. Do your best to try and understand where it's coming from and ask them what's wrong rather than holding to passive aggressive grudges. Obviously there will be a few disrespectful people riding both skis and boards, just don't be one of them.

It's pretty similar to driving on a highway.

Just be respectful because we're all in this together and it's pretty awesome to have a free place to ride preseason.

^ well said. Also, on the topic of gatekeeping. You can ski at every resort in the Wasatch. You cannot snowboard at every resort in the Wasatch. It makes sense that boarders see Brighton as "their" resort, when the management there has embraced boarders in a way not seen at the other local resorts. They also encourage ski bikers, snow skaters, etc to use their lifts which is pretty unique.

Is there still a rivalry between skiers and snowboarders in Utah?

I know it's a little more heated in Utah because of the Alta situation but I never see any boarders at Park City, why is this?

all the jock snowboarders live in colorado. most good snowboarders here don't care about big manicured jumps, they film street and backcountry parts and travel

Its mainly just the Alta thing especially since so many skiers act ignorant about the mountain on instagram making it out to be some kind of ethereal, sacred place to post manufactured pow shots and selfies. As a sort of reaction the snowboarders naturally kind of claimed Brighton which goes out of its way to cater to snowboards and the mountain layout is better for them. Personally, I think the Alta thing stupid and Snowbird is dope because its scary as hell and you damn sure respect anyone next to you on the fall line no matter what they have strapped to their feet.
