Hey NS, i ski all park in the midwest, loved the 2016 Thall, but they don't make it anymore. i've looked at moment frankenski and fat-ypus g-butter for their durable reputation. I'm wondering if I am missing any other brands besides on3p and icelantic that are vvv good in durability. all the old threads say armada thalls, HG skis, and a couple other brands that have gone out of buisness or lost their reputation. im willing to spend the 600$ range but it would be nice to save

Fellow midwesterner here. I skied the moment Frankenskis for a good while and they were extremely durable and only showed some light cosmetic wear after two seasons of rails, rocks and concrete. The mustache rocker is also unbelievably fun.

Fat pus are fucking dope cop the gs. Plus they're on sale

what does the actual topsheet look like, all i can find is the render and it seems like it might just be a blurry mess as a final product. thats my main reservation on those

No such thing as a "Bomb Proof" ski.

Top sheet design should not even be a consideration when looking for a ski. Performance should be all you look for.

Bombproof is obviously an exaggeration, and when im looking at two skis that are very durable, and will perform great, i think topsheet is certainly a factor. its called a goddamn opinion i like to have one. im not going to ride around on some moldy green fuzz because it performs a little better than a goddamn lazer shark. if performance was a big gap ill ride that moldy mother. but its not, so im going for good look and performance because i can.

No need to worry about hitting any bombs in the park... but those ditches will sneak up on ya

Just buy the ski for your style. The difference in durability between these top companies is pretty negligible.

Reach out to ON3P, and dont let the sticker price shock you. I explained my situation with a pair of new skis getting stolen and inquired about some Kartel108s. It was right before their spring sale but I bought them and was credited back the sale difference and they respond super well and have the best customer service out of any brand i can think of. It never hurts to ask.

Also 4FRNT rules. They try to price their stuff at an affordable, but fair price and its all i have been mostly skiing on for the past few years. The Vandals sound like a ski that you would certainly love that fits the profile of what you may be lookin for.

Gotta agree on the tipsheet thing. I dont think it should ever be more than 10% of your factoring but it's something that is important. Sure it's not gonna change how you ski, but look good play good does tend to apply, to varying degrees.

Seems you already got things figured out. Good luck! As for me topsheet is the least thing I care about.

Armada has a good rep. ON3P kills it pretty hard as well. I like those Oregon Homegrown skis.

Here is a Armada Durability test video. Just for fun Ha ha.

Post a link or pictures of the lazer shark skis. I have seen the lazer wolf but a shark sounds tight.

I wouldn't count out moldy green fuzz entirely. If they're done right mold topsheets could be the best. I'm not an artist but I bet an artist could blow your mind with this concept. IMO it'd be better with blue mold. Same with the shark. I'm imagining mostly blue on the shark topsheet.

Blue skis are cooler for sure. Some people think red skis are faster they are definitely not as cool as blue. Purple skis are harder to find but purple is as cool as blue and fast like red. You'll be a boss if you get the purps but you probably can't find them.

im going into season 4 on my jskis allplay, I was riding icy midwest towrope parks nearly every day for the 3 years I rode them, and they are still beyond usable today

you should look at some Nomad 95's from Icelantic, 3 year warranty, $650, fucking so fun and the most durable pair of park skis I've ridden

thats the very top of my budget, and the warrenty wouldnt cover rail damage so that is not helping me. ive heard good things tho

Fatypus is going to give you the best durability for the price imo out of all of those options... also don't worry about the topsheets, I have a pair of d'senders and the graphic is dope, not pixelated like the website rendering may suggest

Rope tow man out here , and I'll tell you here in the Midwest the Vishnu wet is right at home . Easily one of if not the most durable ski in it's price range . Last year I was slapping them around harder than any ski I've had and I only got one edge crack and like 2 scratches on the base. Topsheets look new still . Highly recommend the wets. They are surprisingly stable at speed if you learn how to ski them

All skis break for sure. That being said, I used the same '08 volkl Karmas since 2011 or so...park, urban, big mountain, daily driver. I still take them out sometimes of retirement for the home setup.

In one sense, I agree about graphics not making a difference. No one should decide to buy skis simply based on what they look like. However I think most people would still rather have a graphic they like than one they don't care about. I'm willing to pay a little extra for a ski I love the look of over a less interesting one. It is hard to find a twintip that has 'bad' graphics nowadays.
