Bolton

I would say make it at least 5 feet shorter. I couldn't make it after hitting the step downs... I think I would rather have a smaller jump that's got enough speed to overshoot than a big jump that you need to german tuck into to even make it over the landing.

Speaking of the step downs, the knuckles could be sharper and transition into steeper landings. The him tends to hurt no matter how deep/shallow you take it. Fun comp tonight though, you guys did an excellent job with the park so far this year. Make those changes and it will be beyond awesome.

Hello Nick et al.
In general, the park is in very nice shape. You guys all did great in Night riders competition last night.
How does it sound to take 7 to 15ft off the length of the second table, then you can err on pop in the height vs distance comparison. Since the next feature is a rail with ample speed available, it wouldn't hurt if all of your speed was eaten up with pop and hang time as opposed to a lower angle jump that sends you far and fast. My opinion from a marketing perspective is you would be far better suited to have a well crafted and dialed in park with features setup well in succession vs having just a mismatched features park with big statistics (e.g. all 40+ft jumps etc..). Essentially who cares if your last jumps aren't x or y ft long when it has good flow and a better rider feel. Besides the His side of the step down is a respectable size jump in ANY public park.
Based on how my shins feel today I am not sure I really made it to the tranny on the second jump either.
Strictly my 2 cents. I hope I helped, whatever your fix, I will still enjoy riding your park.

Oh yes, I forgot.
The C-box is setup really well, that wedge is perfectly crafted. So are the down rail at the top and the street takeoff dub kink at the bottom. I really like your rail setups.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Today we put a rough landing on skier's right side of the table and cut a 3-4 ft wide hip style takeoff, it's working out well as speed is no longer a huge issue (landing needs to be groomed out proper, it'll hopefully happen tonight). But, the groomer will push skier's left into a much more makable table for the time being (like a 10-15 footer w/ pop is the goal). And we also may push the lips a few feet forward on both sides, which would make our new hip very clearable.

i was looking at the second jump ast night and was thinkink it would be rally cool if you made it into a combo double jump so you just kind of a butter pad in the middle with a landing and another jump, keeping the landing and the other jump. and making a hip on the right side.

did you read the whole thread?we're putting a new feature on that side, but it's not ready.......so, in the mean time, something small for the little 90 lbs ers to hit.

Definitely do it, like a scaled down version of that feature they had at keystone last year that Delorme did all those crazy butters and such off... If you do, make it super lippy like step up, to step down. I don't have paint so I can't show you... But you get the Idea...

There, did a super quick sketch of how I envision that. You'll notice that I included my guess as to what the mystery feature to the left is going to be. RING O' FIRE!

I really like this idea....i may have to tweak it slightly so the groomer can do his thang, and it would need to be approved by the mtn managers, but I'd think it's doable. Also, I'll have to see what kind of work was done last night and if the hip landing was smoothed out. But we have usasa this weekend, so that means lots of little kids on sunday, who can't carry speed, so we'll see how mush shorter the table got.I'll be riding most of the day......gotta get some shots for the nick and nick show!

Ouch. Don't have all the info yet. I am getting a MRI this week. Seasons over. Xray showed a "fibulal avulsion" or a fracture where the ligaments attach to the smaller shin bone. The MRI will show what's going with the Ligment. Surgery and physical therapy will rebuild. Probably the product of repeated strain - I've already been wearing a brace on this knee for years. I've already paid my pass off this year. Hopefully I can take some pics for night riders in March.

found out I was using the wrong frame rate and resolution on my first day with the gopro......so here's a short edit. (It's my first try, so go easy on me!)Courtesy of Newschoolers.com/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

I really liked that! My only critique is you should try cutting the clips a little closer to the trick, as the skier/rider is moving down the inrun. Verrr nice.

How's the tableish feature coming/was it even approved?

Damn, that sucks.

I know it is not nearly as good, but you should judge for night riders. It would nice to have another skiing judge and it will at least allow you to still be there

yeah...I'll clean up the editing. It was my first try ever, so I'll cut some of the in runs and such for the real deal. Thanks. And the middle table is completed untill we get our mystery feature all ready to go, so here's the set up (all distances estimated). Skier's right is a 30 ft table with a right side hip landing....Skier's left is a 20 ft table.....and the center line is a rainbow box to transition to little 5 ft booter (a version of what you guys had suggested).

Yesterday was my first day in the park at bolton this year and it was a lot of fun. I defanitly liked that rainbow box set up and the hip. My only suggestion is to make the landing of the first jump steeper. But im def liking the flow of the whole set up.

Oh and the landing of the flat down was real hard last night but that happens thoughout the day.

Got this cool still while editing for the first real Nick & Nick Show.......thought I'd share.

Sick! What are your thoughts on the comp wednesday if that thing that cannot be named shows up with a hefty helping of those white crystals we all enjoy so much? Would it be canceled or just end up being a risk-free rail jam?

Haha fair enough. I am excited no matter how much we get it's gonna be awesome! Thank god I get out of school at 11:30.

Sick......I have weds off now so I can judge night riders......but it also means we should meet up weds afternoon to go destroy some fluffy white in the trees!
And Tim.......if the predictions are legit.......it's waterfall time!
Also , I would love to use a helmet mount/chest mount for a gopro........I have bolton's gopro, but no one knows where the attachments are....anybody got one I can use for the day? (weds)

in case you guys haven't heard, night riders is a no go for tomorrow.......but 10-15 inches of snow is a go, so I'll be on vista in the morning and then tline in the afternoon (when it's really gonna dump!) So get at me and we'll rip some trees! I'll be rockin' all smoke and mirror.

i really hope that i can make it up tomorrow. my plans to go to stowe will probably fall thru, none of our parents are going to let us go and lift tickets aren't as discounted as i thought. and my mom drove the minivan off the road trying to drive my brothers to bolton this afternoon, so we'll see how things play out. no school though :)

my guess is you can make it up.....we only have like 4-5 inches so far. but, making it down may be a lot harder......you could always leave the car up here and ski down the access rd......hahahahaeither way be safe.......and if you need something else to do, i suggest flips off of a house or tall porch for fun!I'll keep an eye out for those of you who do make it up today!

Butters has been re-shaped......everything is looking really nice. Get at it before all the little kids ruin my hard work!!!!!!!!And yes, there is now a true knuckle and steep landing to his and hers.

^ yeah and it looks sicki can't wait for sunday, it's going to be the best day of my life i hope. can't wait to get up there
i finished up my bolton edit from last weekend, but i just have to figure out where to upload. it's too big for NS and vimeo, so i might have to resort to youtube again :(

I know...tomorrow is gonna be sick especially if we get some more snow! And I have sundays off! Tline here I come!
But, if you guys are around today stop by the park (hopefully it's still in decent shape after 500+ little kids)........
Oh yeah and look for JJ to be torn down after this weekend and re-built....with no black rails! (I told allison I was going to hide them in the woods, so they can never be found again......hahahahaha)

Did you compress it? Keep the 1080 resolution and just cut the bitrate a bit along with the audio quality and you should be good. Vimeo can handle a pretty freakin' big upload.

Also, awesome job with the park Nick (and the rest of the park crew I guess... haha) The landings are so much better and that rainbow to baby jump feature is just so much fun!

Can't wait for night riders wednesday!

I'd also like to ask. How is the skate comp going to go down? Does the rider that's up pick the feature, are they predetermined? Jumps, rails or both?

Skate should be a rail jam.....and usually there is a "vote" and then the feature is picked. I'd choose the down bar up top, the rainbow (buts it's a hike and a half), the flat down box, and the sam rail.......but it is up to you guys so have fun! But in the mean time RIDE POW!

nice tight vt woods. There were some pretty good shots in there, but the switching shots every 2 seconds kinda gets to me. i personally dont wanna see 50 little shots from the gopro, its alot more interesting to see runs. If yer really lookin for some new woods at BV take a look off the left side of cobrass. You might feel like yer gna get fucked and end up on the backside of bolton, but if you go in at the right spot there are some dirty trees right down to the traverse to timberline. your welcome.

that's actually really funny because i cu/ thinned out that trail 2 years ago. i realized that it's a little flat towards the bottom part.

you're talking about the part that comes out below solitude right? cuz theres one that goes in lower that comes out on the groomer off tiline also.

the reason i did';t do full runs is that a lot of what we were doing then was scouting and it takes a really long time to import really long vid

but thanks for the support. i'm hoping to drop the next one soon

If any of you guys make it up early this afternoon I'll be around, looking to rip trees and then shred the park when it opens. For real, I need someone to ski with....ahhhhh
