Bolton

That's a sick pic Josh!
And just so you guys know the rails and boxes will be SUNK this year, we put the disaster in yesterday and I'd say the kink is just above waist high.
I should have some pics tonight to post (I hope, if not tomorrow for sure)

Park will open tomorrow morning.
These are the features I safety tested and can vouch for: big side of step down (his) - about same distance as last year, maybe a bit shorter and with much much much more pop (super nice in my opinion), up box to 'butter pad' to DFD box - good but definitely a work in progress, Aframe box (set as flat down) - very nice and can also be hit as a short down or tap from the knuckle at the kink, and the Sam rail (DFD) - nice, set low and relatively flat.
That's all I got to hit today, but I'll be riding bright, early and all day tomorrow.

Will the night riders rail jam be in the main park or the real park, and if JJ will it be remade before then?

For you guys the night riders jam should be in the main park.....the bottom four features (flat/down box, disaster rail, sam (dfd) rail, and the c-box are set up proper right now.......JJ is hurt real bad (I've even heard rumors that the flat box was turned into a ride on yesterday in my absence, don't worry I'll destroy it if I see it this morning)
As for JJ rebuild and the rest of the features for the big park.....the park cat should be up and running by this afternoon and I will ask the mtn manager when he plans on bringing the rest of the the rails and boxes up and I'll let you guys know.
and it's supposed to be sunny today....I'll do my best to snag some pics

Nick thanks about the pic. I am super pleased with it, not only has the pow skiing been so good recently but I love getting a sweet pic, they help get me through the summer.
The park looks great. I saw you guys working so hard on Friday night, and then to have the park open with so much new snow must have been frustrating. The whole park crew did a great job.
I like the two jumps being so close together, I saw the second (table?) was closed and I didn't hit either the first his or hers jumps b/c of light and speed, but the flow looks good. I really like the up box / butter pad / d-f-d box, that setup is unique and it is cool having those two rails so close together on the butter pad, it will be fun to start linking some tricks.
BV is really earning its respect this year with me, we've had great snow and damn there are some awesome woods around, I've been having a ton of fun exploring. Psyched for Night Riders on Wednesday, although I won't have any time to ski park before then, rail jam should be a great start.

Yeah that's gonna be awesome! I just need to figure out how to schedule studying for midterms so I can have that night to compete.

Pics.....(took them all with my phone, sorry if they're grainy)It goes bottom of the park to the top.....and we hope to get a flat box and a down rail in for weds night

I have not measured either his or hers, and will not until the knuckle is fixed.........the hers has a nice landing, but something went wrong during grooming and the his is like a flat roller unless you take it deep. I will measure with Allison on weds is my guess.

Great job so far. Went up in the first day the park was open, knuckled the jump in to look a foot and a half of powder, no biggie. Anyway, my only complaint is with the kids who ski/ride BV. Please, PLEASE, please don't hockey stop between the rails, I know I am guilty of this occasionally as well, but if we all stop then there is ice only scraped ice. Maybe, if kept going,

we could keep the snow flowing, y'know?

Friday, Saturday and Monday we'll ski (Granted we don't end up having a snow day tomorrow... God I hope we don't). It's gonna be freaking' cold this weekend though...

it was really cold last weekend and it wasn't that bad.i just hope that that freezing rain forecast was just BS cuz that would blowwwwwwwwwww
omg tho there's the biggest cliff at bolton and i hit it las weekend and i want to get a good shot with my gopro because it's so awesome. i'll show you where it is when we're up there. it's so big

yeah yeah, I know of a few 10 footers on Tline and one off Vista.......is this bigger than 10ft?
And we got like 4inches last night (very little sleet, if any at all), and the cold weather should help keep the snow nice and dry for the friday storm.
See you guys tonight!

so on solitude, you cut in left a little before the part of the trail that has the cliff band running across the whole trail. it comes out on the old way to the logging road part of the trail before they cut the new one to the right. the cliff has huge icicle/waterfall on it it's way closer to solitude than it is to the trail that you would enter by cutting left at the top of solitude (not sure the name of this trail but i call it cat- idk why)
but there are some really nice cliffs/ pillow lines if you do take Cat from the top of solitude
it's hard to estimate height because the actually top to bottom of cliff isn't the same as actual air time. you land about 5 ft below the base of the cliff. my tentative guess would be that it's 15-20ft

Sounds sick, you'll have to show me though!I have friday and sunday off, I'll try and find you if you're around. (I may have a few gaper friends from mass with me on sunday though.....in which case one of them will try and send it......it'll be hilarious!)

^Can I come? (Will you give me a ride? I don't feel like driving myself)

Also, thanks Nick, all the judges and everyone who helped make tonight awesome! It was nice meeting everyone competing. By the way, 450 disasters are a BITCH. Haha

Four slope is.....I think....where you get to choose four features in the park and get two or three runs to hit those four features. And yes, by next week the second table will be makable (sorry it wasn't makable last night......judging speed and distance for a jump in the flats in harder than I thought it would be!)
Also, you guys killed it last night.....I was entertained the whole time..... especially by some unnamed highlighter ninja (MAX) trying to 450 on to everything! It was a good night, glad you guys had fun.

Great competition and there was such a huge turn out!
I had a lot of fun for sure. Nick your park looks great, I can't wait to for the double jump line to get dialed 'cause they have so much promise, I love how close they are. Yeah Yeah 4-slope.
I like both of the bottom two rails, the disaster is so sweet and gnarly. That Flat-Down is great, I like the steepness. The rail options up top are setup well, especially the down bar.
Night riders was sweet and those 450 attempts were straight up nasty!

Haha not quite. Upload them to youtube/vimeo/wherever you prefer and you can embed that video.

I downloaded them though, mute poke was nice! I'll see you up there tomorrow. Are the jumps still as soft as they were for night riders?

Sounds nice. I think I'll bring the man-cam up tomorrow. Get some shots! Gotta get a head start on my grad challenge.

Alright, not sure if I have work or not today... Long story. But if I don't I'll probably be up for the afternoon.

embed is being super gay. it works when i put it on, but then in preview it goes away. i just put the link there instead. it's the edit i made on friday when we were up.

^Nice Backie.
What are we looking at for 4 slope, are both jumps going to be ready? Are we going to do 3 slope instead, or a: Top 3 rail option -> Jump -> Disaster or FD Option -> Sam Rail or C Box option type of course?
Just working on my run visualization, ha, actually I just haven't skied since last wednesday and I don't know how it looks.

This. What are the jumps looking like? I'm alright with doing my runs using the her if the him is still death. Oh gonna shake it up this week with some gray pants... So... There's that...

The step down is about half and half right now....the his has a great wedge, an improving knuckle and a slightly steeper landing. Hers has a sketchy wedge (thanks little kids) and a decent knuckle and landing. I was planning on testing out the new table yesterday....but it was bombproof, so if it's nice I'll do that today (maybe with a little follow cam action!?!)
And I hope those grey pants aren't smoke and mirror........hahaha jk
Nick
Also, I saw in another thread about judging that sometimes it is hard to know what is being looked for, style or tech. I want to say that I am personally a fan of style on jumps and tech on rails.....but most importantly, have a run you can land, then try 450 on to everything!

Oh and TIm.....sic vid. The quick turns in the tree are super smooth, we gotta connect some weekend and go to the waterfall. I've been asking around about it.......and your size estimate sounds right on. I want to drop it so bad.

Yeah, I can go either hers or his. I am hoping to sneak out of the office this afternoon and take a couple of hot laps through the park to see how the jumps look. Odds are they are HARD as rock. It looks like it is going to be snowing pretty good tomorrow night too - so speed might be an issue for the HIS side anyway.
See you guys tomorrow.

Excellent. Don't worry, I've got a mellow, steezy run planned out to start it off. Then a more techy, still do-able run. Then a risky, still worth it banger run to end if I make it into the finals, let's just say it's a trick I haven't tried since last year because the jumps at the bush aren't big enough...

Super excited though, slope style's more my thing... I've got all my stuff ready to toss in the car tomorrow morning!

Hey guys, just walked out of a good talk with the head groomer, we are planning on closing the park for a few hours tomorrow afternoon (like 12-3ish) and finishing the table once and for all. Also, because of this I would say there might be some fresh corduroy on the landing to the step down as well! So yeah, plan on two jumps and softish landings, should be a lot like last wednesday. Also, I hit the his a few times today and the new snow was not problematic for speed at all.

AWESOME! Just hope that there's enough time to get some practice in prior to the event. If the speed's right and the landing's soft I might have to try that 'next trick'... Who knows... Competition pressure does wonders!

Very true....we will do our best to be done no later than 4 (but I don't drive the groomer so I can't say for certain). But look for the table to be 20-25 ft, true table style and only skier's right will be open (lines up w/ both his and hers nicely) because skier's left will have our new mystery feature set up on it when the guys in the shop are done with it (couple weeks.....trust me it's worth the wait, I'm super stoked on it).

Ok...I need your guys help with the second table. I have vicious shin bang from knuckling my safety hit, and I had to ball tuck after landing the his to make it my second try. So, realistically how much shorter do you guys think it needs to be? 5ft? more? Also, I am going to hand dig the tranny and put a bit more lip on it tomorrow. But please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.ThanksAnd nice job to everyone tonight at night riders!
